Can anyone give specific details on station locations? I have a few from the info i have gotten off the various websites, but I want to see if any other hobbyists had any information with regard to specifics about Paeonian Springs (know the town, dont know the station location), Leesburg (same) and Bluemont.

Regarding Bluemont, Arlington has a Bluemont Park, and the trail does go thru it, but I dont believe thats the CORRECT stop. As it was explained to me, Bluemont is the end stop on the west end of the line. Any ideas? I would love to topographically map the actual trail/ROW. Thanks in advance!

To answer HOGHEAD's question, they filed for bankruptcy and ceased to operate in 1968. the ROW still exists as a hike/bike rails-to-trails, which i do support by virtue of the R/T preserving both nintention and physical properties of the line.

There are specific traits of the trail, most of which is mapped. Im looking to connect the remaining dots. A portion of the original ROW was purchased for development of I-66 from Washington to Front Royal, and approx 2 miles of the W&OD was used in this manner. the rest is a trail subsidized by VA Power. So the big picture is basically intact, I want to fill in the gaps.

HOGSHEAD, does that help? Looking for small fish in a big pond, I realize, but any significant detail abt the locations I mentioned (plus any others) is both welcome and appreciated. THANKS!

I shouldn't answer a question with a question, but did the company just cease to be, or was it acquired by another railroad and by who?

It may be that only portions of the old line were abandoned and archives of the receiving company(s) may have some answers, if in fact they haven't been gobbled up by now. After a couple gobbles a lot of info gets lost.

Sorry.
