Goes home to beat his wife and molest his children? Are you aware how often this happens in the real world? Or do you see your holy-man as being a saint-like person who doesn't eat, sh'it, or bleed like the rest of us?

It happens every day in the midwest and my father is also a preacher, baptist minister to be exact, I'm not saying all of them do it, but I've known of ones that do.

Bullfrog: I am neither a child, nor the victim of molestation, but I have had friends of mine (withholding names) whose fathers were well-known preachers and respected members of their communities tell me about their fathers molesting them as children and/or beating their mothers. Some of these friends were literally crying when they told me this, as a human being, I have to feel bad for them. How do you console a person who has gone through this, what CAN you say to them?

I am aware that it happens. How could it not? All people are human and sinners. Some people are even hypocrites. Is that supposed to make me doubt my faith or change my beliefs? Well it doesn't. I have lost respect for organized religion as a whole. I think more Christians need to really read the Bible and stop believing everything that is preached to them. God will lead us to the correct way.

God Bless you and Merry Christmas.

If there is any logic to your posting it is you really have a specific situation in mind. If you are in the family report it to the police, a counselor at school if you are a child.

Child molestation is totally immoral (that takes care of Gods opinion) and illegal in the US. That's society's opinion. Spousal abuse is also totally immoral and probably illegal as well. However if tolerated by family and or "friends" nothing will be done to change it.

Look. I'm a preacher's kid, and that's not even close to funny. There's no greater child or spouse abuse among ministers than among cab-drivers, police officers, biologists, iron workers, or nurse practitioners.

I know my dad and hundreds of other ministers and their families. Most of them are doing their best. Deluded, but doing their best.

My Pastor is human.
He's also a nice guy.
Shame on you for posting this.
And if you met him, and talked to his family, you'd feel like a bigger fool than you already are.

Wishing you Peace.
