Visit the web site of the Stuttering Foundation of America at www.stutteringhelp.org. You will find information about stuttering, referrals to specialists in your area, online videos, a newsletter, etc. They have helped our family and friends of ours who stutter.

I'm 14 and I have struggled through what was initially a mild stutter to something that progressed over the course of 12 years to a more severe one. Currently I see a speech pathologist for an hour, once a week, at my local public hospital, which I would not recommend. You'd be MUCH better off forking out the dough for a paid speech pathologist. Trust me, they are much more efficient, though paying for not an option for my family and I right now. Good luck and remember, you're not alone! There are other people with the same speech disorder as you :)

Much love.
Happy Holidays!

I used to work with a girl who stuttered pretty badly if she talked in her normal voice, but when she felt herself getting nervous, like around more than one or two people, she would whisper, and the stuttering would stop. Try it and see if whispering will help.

Your mind moves too fast for your mouth, nothing to be ashamed of. Are you nervous around people? Try to relax and take your time talking. People that stutter are geniuses. Be proud to be a stutterer.

take deep breaths and try to speak using that breath. It is hard to stutter while you are exhaling.
