i like a preppy guy at school who is the exact opposite of me, he's outgoing and has a lot of friends. i'm very shy. I'm scared to talk to him or even go near him. whats wrong with me? i only like him because we have a few things in common, we are both guitarists, listen to the same bands and edit the yearbook. any thoughts on this? please post =]

BE YOURSELF!
Even if he is a preppy and you are punk/metalhead, do not change who you are to make him happy! Just be confident! Smile to him, maybe say "hi" to him. Since you are shy, that stuff is easier than going right up to him and saying "hey, me-you-friday night-date". Try to be his friend first, and then see where that takes you! Good luck!

It's about having common interests. Plus, alot of people change after high school. So, the label "preppy" or "punk" just do not matter anymore. Of course a preppy guy can like a punk girl. Go watch "Breakfast Club" again. lol.

yeah, i think u should be in good shape. i mean, even if he is preppy, u guys have some decent things in common. you say that you guys both play guitar (that's really good right there) and that you guys both like and listen to the same bands (this along with guitar playing is a double plus). now all you need to do is show him that u guys these things in common and u 2 should be a happy couple ^__^

go for it. Sometimes opposites in a relationship are the most fun. If nothing else, at least you can say you were open minded enough to go out with him and see what he is like behind his "preppy-ness"...which is something allot of people wouldn't have the guts to do...

truly possible. some of the greatest love stories are about two people from different worlds falling in love or like with each other.
Romeo and Juliet, West Side Story, Pretty in Pink, Clueless....you have a liking for a boy who just happens to wear different clothes from you. You have some things in common and you like him. Be yourself and ask him out when he's not surrounded by his boys. You'll be fine.

ya i would date a punk rocker and im kinda preppy i dont like to say it but i am. ur in love. start by talking with him and see how he acts towards you and if it looks like he likes you then try and make a move on him. the sooner the better. good luck
