Depends what you mean by lost.
A number of high-up Americans have been "winners" out of the Iraq fiasco, we're thinking Dick Cheney, Halliburton etc. A number of rich and powerful Americans have made a whole heap of money by bombing Iraqi cities into the stone age and then using taxpayers' money to finance their friends' construction companies to repair the damage.
The people running the country aren't that stupid, they're doing very well out of it all thank you.
But the people who voted for them? Yeah point taken. They shell out all that tax money to pay for the military operation, they shell out a shedload more to pay for the reconstruction operation to rebuild what they just destroyed, and as the reward for their patriotism they get to have their sons given a nice moving military funeral.
And then they'll vote to re-elect the government. Go figure.

I have thought about this a lot. I think that the war is won, but now we are embroiled in something that is out of control...Iraq's very own civil war.
It isn't just the Vietnam war we need to remember, but the Korean War, and even our own Revolutionary War...Great Britain thought they could defeat us, but General Green lead the British troops on a merry chase through the South that depleted their resources, and killed off half their men. This showed us that an Army can win all the battles (like Vietnam), you can still lose the war.

If, If the media is allowed to continually slant your brain, questioning that you have one, Then you will only see our presence there as totally unnecessary to the task.
Your two scenarios are unrelated in scope, vision, objective and mode. The only commonality is ...... American Forces!!!
Hats off to ALL of our Men and Women who have, are and will continue to serve this great nation. Unfortunately some serve with the ultimate price, but they died trying to give and help others be free.
Right now Iraq is in that very unstable stage where if we were to pull out now, it would be another Vietnam. Just this time Our troops would not be labeled " Baby Killers" by the media.
To ALL of Our Troops, here and abroad. Well done!! And Thank you.

Vietnam and Iraq are totally different. Many more Americans were killed in Vietnam and we didn't really have a clear plan. Iraq is different but if we don't change strategy we'll be there for a long time.

Vietnam wasn't a war at the time we withdrew. At that time it was still classified as a police action. It wasn't until years after that it was declared a war. We didn't get our butt kicked we lost that police action due to the bleeding heart liberal media & the fact that then as now we didn't fight it as a conventional war. If we had or in this case would then the war would be over & we would have won. As it stands now,we will be there longer due to pansey-assed liberal cowards such as yourself who would rather see us, AMERICA, on our knees faceing north & praying to the pagen diety of Islam. GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS & KEEP THEM SAFE & STRONG!!!!

No, but apparently you are, or are pulling for the wrong team again. Stupid is what a pacifist liberal does sitting at his computer at 11:00 p.m., in his mother's basement, but assumes he is wiser than everyone else and somehow has a handle on world politics and foreign policy. Good for you!

Ummm.... Excuse me? The past wars are not similar to current wars, so connecting them is not the best thing. I think the US will come out victorious, because the men and women fighting in Iraq are mostly good, couragous people.

I hope that we are ready to count this Iraq war up for a loss because no matter how you look at it we are in a losing battle. you can't change people's views by bringing more of our military.
