.When the Bible was written there was a Hell. But who knows what has happened since then on a distant Planet called Heaven.
We can make a good guess by studying God's personality. Hell, eternal damnation, just doesn't seem to be in his personality.
So, I figure it this way:
Satan invented Hell, but by now, God and Jesus have done away with it.
The Bible is not and never claimed to be the word of God. Why do I keep hearing that expression? It is a story of how Jewish people lived their lives.
Can any Bible scholar deny that?
Hey Bubba Christians, have you not noticed that all the names in the Bible are Jewish. That is, until Saul changed his name to Paul.

The answer is yes and no. Sound confusing, well it is about to get more so. The original bible was written in 'Old' Hebrew, with used the word SHEOL to describe hell. When translated in context this word means quite literally 'the common grave' or where we all go when we die (good and bad alike). The bible had to be translated when the roman empire changed it's faith under emperor Constantine to Latin, in this translation several words were translated out of context so the word for Hell, SHEOL, came to mean a place for the wicked (our current common understanding of the word). Due to a Catholic belief that what is true on earth must be true in heaven (and hell) the concept of hell was created. Notably, only recently have the Vatican formally declared that there is no "hell" as far as a pit of burning fire and the abode of the devil. Hope this helps.

Most religions teach that bad people will go to a fiery Hell of eternal torture Hell Do you know that even Good people go to Hell when they die? Hell is really just the common grave of mankind,
Have you ever seen someone tortured? Hopefully not! Deliberate torture is sickening and abhorrent. What, though, of torture inflicted by God?Can you imagine such a thing? Yet this is exactly what is implied by the teaching of Hell an official doctrine of many religions.
Imagine for a moment, the following horrific scene:A person being roasted on a hot iron plate. In his agony he screams for mercy, but nobody listens. The torture goes on and on, hour by hour, day by daywithout any pause!Whatever chrime the victim may have committed, would not your heart go out to him? What of the one who ordered the torture? Could he be a loving person? In no way!Love is mercyfull and shows pity. A loving father may punish his children, but he would never torture them!
Nevertheless, many religions teach that God tortures sinners in endlesshellfire. This is claimed, is devine justice. If thatis true, who created that terrible place of eternal torment? And who is responsible for the excruciating agonies inflicted there? The answer would seem obvious. If such a place really exists, then God would have to be the creator of it, and he would be responsible for what happens there.
Can you accept that? The Bible says:"God is Love"(1John4:8)Would a God of love inflict torture that even humans with any measure of decency find revolting? Surely not! Still, many believe that the wicked will go to a fiery hell and be tormented for ever. Is this teaching logical? The human life span is limited to 70 or 80 years. Even if someone perpetrated Extreme wickedness for his entire lifetime, would everlasting torment be a just punishment? No it would be grossly unjust to torment a person forever for the limited number of sins that he can commit in a lifetime.
Who knows the truth about what happens after we die?
Only God can reveal this information, and he has done so, in his written word the Bible. Here is what the Bible says:"As the[beast]dies, so the[man]dies; and they all have but one spirit......All are goingto one place. They have all come from the dust, and they are all returning to the dust

I have no idea about the invisible hell.
But seriously, I hear every day around me some fellow complains:"Why God comdemns me to such a hell like this?" And by looking at the crying person, I see that she is really in hell!

Yes, Hell is a literal place where Satan and the fallen angels who followed him (demons) will go after the judgment.
Hell is not Satan' realm, nor does he rule it. He is not there now, either. He "walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour." 1 Peter 5:8. Hell will be his prison after the tribulation, and he wants as much company as he can get. Hell wasn't made for humans, it was made to be Satan's prison.

Well of course. The Bible describes the place called Hell many times. It is most often described as the lake of fire and brimstone. And in retaliation to other answers, yes God is a loving God and He does not sit idly by watching His children burn. He gives abundant opporotuinites to be saved and go to heaven, but as the old saying goes "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink". God can convict our hearts, send others to witness to us, but ultimately if we do nothing and aren't willing to have God then He cannot save us. We must be willing to be saved, but once again yes there is a Hell. It is very real.

Unfortunately, there is such a place. A place that is very horrible. But, there is also a place called Heaven where it is very nice.

All these responses and NO EVIDENCE to back it up! Don't you hate those kind of answers? Eventhough some may be accurate, how would you know? Oh well....
Hell is REALLY the grave! It IS NOT a place where the sinful dead go at death to spend eternity in FIRE! This would make us immortal and no, we don't have an immortal soul.
God ALONE is immortal:
1Ti 6:15 --he who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords,
1Ti 6:16 who ALONE has immortality...
Hell is not a place of fire! Even hell itself will be cast into the lake of fire where it will cease to exist! Remember, hell is actually the grave. So both death and hell, or the grave, will meet their demise in the lake of fire!
Rev 20:14 And death and Hell were put into the sea of fire. This is the second death, even the sea of fire.
If hell were a place of fire, then how could it be cast into a lake, or sea of fire? AND MEET ITS END?

Yes but no one goes there eternally as many religionists think. One goes there for the duration of their very Bad Karma. It is explained in the Srimad Bhagavatam all the different hellish conditions their are for different kinds of sins. Though one can get similar kinds of hellish Karma on earth. In the Material creation there is Hell, Heaven for extremely good Karma and Earth for a combination of good and bad karma. The best thing is to stop the cycle of birth death old age and disease (reincarnation.) we should go to the eternal spiritual abode where there is no suffering and everyone is eternally blissful. Read Bhagavad Gita as it is By Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada for all the answers of life and the purpose of human life. go to krishnaculture.com for details. if you would like the same point of view according to Christs actual teachings go to gospelofthenazirenes. The original Old Testament before King Constantine misconstrued everything.
