Because it's funny to see the person walk to the door and open it expecting someone to be there.........But them when you see an old guy with a walker, you feel like a douche....... I did do it a few times with friends. Never my idea though. I was always kind of the wimp until about middle school.

"Ding Dong Ditching"
I remember that. That sounds hilarious to do even now. I'm going to get some friends to play truth or dare and see who will do it. That s funny. I think that it is against the law considered Criminal Mischief.

Here is the correct answer to your question.

You would be committing trespassing III and disorderly conduct. That is under Kentucky law. Laws vary from state to state.

We used to get fishing lines and rig up a rock to "knock on a door". We would hide behind the bushes and pull a second string up (to hide the rock from view) when they opened the door to see... ...nobody.

yes, and now we are tracking down your IP Number and the cops will be your door shortly. :-)

seriously, nowadays it is probably against the law. it's a form of harassment. if someone goes to the door and trips and falls down and breaks their leg, they will sue the *** off of the parents.

OMG "ding-dong ditching" why do the whites get all the stupid names. I prefer "****** knocking," too. If it's a repeated disturbance you can report them. It's disturbing the peace. One or two times the police may let it go. But harrassment is bad and illegal.

I'm pretty sure it is actually, probably some sensitive Trespassing or Property law. I doubt it's in effect though.

Yes it is, and it was against the law back then but not many people would call the cops on kids for it. (BTW it's called harassment.)
