It's probably legal but may prove dangerous if you wear a gay helmet like that to a biker rally.

They don't damage the integrity of the helmet, so I'd say, "no", not dangerous. There may some old laws on the books targeting bikers , from the 70s, but that would be an individual state matter.

you don't want anything that could or will breach the shell (either at installation or on impact) of the helmet. Fur, or pliable plastic would be fine, but maybe not metal stuff. As far as the legality, that would probably vary depending on the state, but add ons are usually okay, if the helmet is still intact. The rule is usually just to have one.

Read the lable on the helmet. Some can be weakened by the solvent in some glues. Rabbit ears, huh? Pink, I suppose.

I can't imagine anyone finding that unsafe or illegal. I'm in a state with no helmat law anyways, so should be no problem whatsoever, as long as whatever it is doesn't block your vision.
