I have tried hobbies and reading and everything leads back to something I am trying to forget. Any ideas?

well everything that has already been suggested are great ways
but maybe you should ask your self why do you want rid of it.if its something thats bad.thats easily seen but even then i always ask
myself why.but time is the best healer i know.merry christmas
maybe that will take your mind off of it.

It depends on what it is you're trying to forget. My husband was murdered almost 15 years ago and not a day goes by that he doesn't fill my brain with his spirit. I had tried to block it from my mind, but it's impossible.

If it's something you did that is causing you to feel guilt - it probably would be best to make amends, if you can. Or find somewhere on line (support groups, chat rooms, any other interactive site, even game sites like Gamerival.com.) where you can unload it all anonymously (so you don't have to feel shame) - there are plenty of experienced understanding folks out there that will listen (you can email me if you like) Getting it out in the open will be such a relief!

Unfortunately, time is the best remedy. You can also try meditation- just close your eyes and focus only on your breathing. When you start to think of something else, go back to focusing on breathing. Sometimes I have to do that when I am trying to go to sleep and the days events are bugging me. Take care =)

I would try talking to a therepist, or even a good close friend. Or, if you'd rather not talk about it, try writing it down and see if that helps.

Good luck!

Draw a picture of it, then burn it outdoors so the ashes can fly away. Sometimes a symbolic act can really pry "it" out of your head. Best of luck to you. I hope you find your answer!

Talking to someone or writing it are both good ideas. Personally, I have tried both and they both help. Good luck. if you feel that you know of no one you can trust or don't know of a stranger to confide in--e-mail me. I will listen. (Or e-mail me and don't send it lol) Good luck.
