Actually, Jesus had no beginning so He cannot have a birthday. The annual celebration of His Incarnation however is what we thank God for at Christ's Mass. When we do for one another, we do for Jesus. We give gifts to one another and it is giving to Jesus. The whole gift thing came from the feast of St. Nicholas on Dec. 6th. This is because St. Nicholas Bishop of Myra gave all his wealth away to those in need.
