iMove will not recognize the DVD? I tried importing it... doesn't work. There are 6 files making the movie with the following extension names = .BUP, .IFO, .VOB
We are trying to take pieces of my friends movie out so he can make his acting demo reel. We are usng iMovie, but I havve iDVD too. Any pointers?

You must be a beginner with Macs right? It's okay it gets some taking used to. They are just as crappy as windows. So, first you might need a DVD ripper. The best one I know of is Handbrake. It works awesome. You can make the movie an .mp4 or an .avi file. It works wonders. Then you can just move the movie to iMovie and then cut th e clips out you want. A link for Handbrake is below.

Hello Kimycask,

iMovie is really for gathering video clips from your video camera not from a DVD. There would be a danger of people copying commercial DVD movies, and that wouldn't be legally appropriate.

Maybe there's a way of getting the video signal from a DVD player. Best of luck to you.
