They celebrate now to take away from the pagan holidays which were celebrated all around the world. They took the symbols that were used, the tree, the wreath, the candles and made their own holiday to take over. It was known that the country people would never give up their bonfires and yule logs. Any sane person knows that if Jesus was truly born it would not have been in the middle of December. That is if the description that the bible gives is true.
They want to have it both ways, but many of us have seen the true light.

The solstice is Dec. 21st and June 21st (approximate dates).
The Christmas Season is the first Sunday of Advent until the day of Epiphany.
The reason for the CHRISTmas Season? Christ!!!
No one is imposing Christian beliefs on the rest of you. We are not forcing you to go shopping on Boxing Day for all those supposed bargains. What's wrong with wishing you a "Happy Christmas"? You don't have to do it if you don't want.
And it seems many with their gluttony and intoxication are using the Christmas Season as a poor excuse for having your pagan festivities.
To all Christians, CELEBRATE the Incarnation!!
Emmanuel -- God with us!!!

Don't forget the symbolism in Christ. The winter solstice is the darkest day of the year, Christ represents the coming promise of light. Its all relative to the same symbolism. Religion is the problem, not the truth of the Christ consciousness of which most christians totally misrepresent.

Yes, they are. Winter solstice is the real reason for the holiday, not the birth of an ancient nutjob.

It's wishful thinking just like most of their religion. December 25th is Mithras' birthday.
