if you are using the product called "bark" you can only add shortening, as oil or butter, etc. will make it look like cottage cheese.

No don't add anything. You may want to add some water to the chocolate but that's it. First take 2 pounds of white chocolate and melt. Add 1/2 tsp. of peppermint oil and stir in crushed peppermint candies. Spread onto a sheet pan lined with parchment paper, top with more crushed peppermint candies and refridgerate for at least 45 minutes.

Combine candy cane chunks with chocolate (add peppermint flavoring at this point if desired.) Pour mixture onto a cookie sheet layered with parchment or waxed paper and place in the refrigerator for 45 minutes or until firm. Remove from cookie sheet and break into pieces (like peanut brittle.)

When my dog barks I first praise him for barking. After all, you want him to bark when it is for a good reason. Then after a few moments I say "Enough it s ok" then I put a treat in between my fingers and offer it to him saying shhhhhhh. I don t let go of it until he is quiet (5 to 10 seconds) saying shhhhhh the whole time. CONSISTEMCY Is of utmost importance. I ve been working on this for two weeks and have seen awesome Improvement. Depending on the level of barking, he sometimes stops when he hears shhhh. Other times I need to continue with the treats. I m confident that eventually a shhhhh will be enough to arrest his incessant barking. Rocks in a can didn t work for him because he is a skittish dog and that just made him more agitated, as did spraying him with water. A kind and gentle shhhh may take longer to accomplish but in the end you have a dog who is calm and quiet not nervous and quiet. Good luck!

You can add some peppermint oil (the kind made especially for candy making) to the chocolate before your pour out to harden. I personally don't add any, I just use crushed peppermint candies mixed into the melted white chocolate and it is just the best!!
