'Like others said, she "says she's a witness", but most likely isn't, or is hiding these things from other witnesses, as far as husband being catholic, she could've married him before becoming a witness if she is indeed a witness. also couldve had the kids before she found out about the truth, many things could be going on here, you would have to investigate or ask questions, but she may not appreciate this if she used to do these things, but has turned her life around

You cannot judge a religion from just one example. He might be a Jehovah Witness, but a bad Witness.
As far as the reason for not celebrating birthdays, there are no example of the early Christians doing that, and no command of Jesus or His apostles which tell us to celebrate Jesus' birthday, even if we can tell exactly when He was born. But for sure, it could not be 25th of December, which was a pagan festival of the birthday of the Sun God. This pagan festival was later Christianized by the Catholic Church, thus the name Roman Catholic Church.

I am not a Jehovah Witness, but I am a Christian, thus a Christ's Witness, and I am not defending the beliefs of the JW, but just stating historical facts.
If you read in the Bible, every time a birthday is mentioned, a sad thing happened. On Paharoh's birthday, his butler or bread maker was beheaded. And during the birthday party of Herodes, John the Baptist was beheaded.
Celebrating birthdays have never been a Christian custom but pagan custom.

Well let me tell you all something.I am married to a Jehovah wittiness I love it /Don't have to worry about buying Christmas for her or her family saves a lot of money. They don't believe in any holiday except the birth of Christ and they say it is not in Dec 25.They are all good people I have met they just got different believes, this is America we can or should I say they can believe in any thing they want as long as they leave me along with it,We have been married for 27 years now and they can marry other than Jehovah's and it is not a cult or no s#it like that,And for the person that has the children out of wedlock and drinks and smokes, she is no different than anyone or other group of people out there she is no good but now I am judging some one else but if the shoe fits ware it and she still no good. Not a very good anything.

There are only 2 Birthdays mentioned in the Bible one at Genesis 40:20-22 and the other at Matt 14:6-10 both of then associated with bad events if Jesus wanted us to celebrate birthdays he would have included his but it is NOWHERE TO BE FOUND IN THE BIBLE AS TO WHAT DAY IT IS ....!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and No CHRISTIAN in Jesus time celebrated them either and if you look up the customs associated with them a lot of it is associated with demonism see the following references 1. the history of the Christian religion and church during the first three centuries August Neander 1848 P.190 2. the Imperial Bible Dictionary By Patrick Fairbairn 1874 Vol 1 P.225 3. Schwabische Zeitung magazine supplement to Zeit and Welt April 3,4 1981 P.4 4. The Lore of Birthdays by Ralph and AdelinLinton 1952 P.8,18-20 does this answer your question Gorbalizer

Amanda she cant and probably isnt.To be one of Jehovah's Witnesses besides love for our God,Jehovah we also have deep respect and honour for his great and holy name.
Do the actions of this girl show honour or dignity to God?
I dont think so!
To recognise a true witness of Jehovah is not difficult. We are the ones that stand out from the crowd. We dont smoke, swear, commit adultery, fornication etc etc.
Jehovahs Witnesses dont celebrated birthdays and most other holidays because they are all steeped in pagan beliefs.Even the holiday of Christmas is not a Christian celebration. It was originally a pagan festival that was fused in with apostate Christianity. It has nothing at all to do with the birth of Christ, which I might add the Bible does not even tell us when Christ was born, does it?
If you really want answers, why not go to your local Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses. They have a thorough and accurate understanding of the Bible and would be only too happy to assist you in any way.
Please dont judge Jehovah's Witnesses by this person you know - she may 'claim' to be a Witness but her behaviour says otherwise

Like you said, " she says she is a Jehovas Witness". That doesn't prove she is in good standing with them.

Anytime you spend money on birthday or Christmas presents for your children, you will have less money to donate to the Jehovah Witnesses. - Does that make sense?

She clearly is NOT a JW! We do NOT smoke, we are moral and upright people. Perfect? No, we do make mistakes just like everyone else, but we try to live a clean life and live our life by the Bible! We do NOT celebrate birthdays or any other holdiays that are celebrated by the world.

She can't be a true witness....they wouldn't let her stay if she smokes. I know that for sure. I know someone who was baptized to the JW's and when she started smoking again, they disfellowshiped her for it. But, that is only if she is baptized. If she is not, they will let her stay. Other than that, maybe she did all this stuff and then got into the JW's.

well i dont know about that one but they dont celebrate any holidays or birthdays because jesus said only to celebrate one day, the last supper, he said remember this day and keep it holy. so they figure if you celebrate anything else you are bringing more attention to this non jesus stuff. including his own birthday. i think its stupid but such is life, well i dont know about her drinking and smoking or if the kingdom hall says its a no no, im sure being married to a catholic shes expected to put on some show of christmas, but mostly i thought witnesses didnt want you married to anyone who wasnt a witness. well to each their own. im happy to be wiccan and not have to deal with any of that crap.

Because they think that it is idol worship and celebrating things other than the lord. They think birthdays are self-centered.
