No, our mailman is mean and sour all the time. If I get a package too big for the mailbox, he honks until someone comes out to get it or he will not leave it and then when you go out to get it, he is hateful and just shoves it at you without saying a word. I would rather flush the money than give it to him. I actually think it is not legal for the mailmen to take cash, but they can take a small gift. Our old mailman was so nice I always baked him his favorite chocolate chip cookies every year and put them in a nice new Tupperware container for his wife and he was happy.

My parents always gave their mailman some candy or a bottle of wine at Christmas time. I think once they did give him some money. They also did that to the trash truck drivers as well. This was many, many years ago. I personally have never done it.

No, since I don't think they are allowed to take one.
If you feel the need to express your gratitude to your mailman, perhaps you could write them a thank you note, give them a card, or perhaps say thank you in person? I guess if you know each other, a small Christmas gift/treat wouldn't hurt either?

We've always given a cash Christmas gift to the mailman (37 years). He gives us great service and comes rain or shine, hot or cold, every single day. I think it's a nice way to thank him.

I haven't heard anything, but my mailman does heavy duty for me , so I always tip him $20. He's good to us-puts packages in carport if weather is bad....takes 20 or more packages with him on my shipping days-( I sell & ship from home)....

I heard that they're not allowed to accept cash, however, if you want to give them a little Christmas gift they are allowed to accept a gift that is worth up to $20.
