To me, that means that Satan is the darkness and Jesus is the candle. Do you recall hearing there is always a light at the end of the tunnel? Well that light is Jesus. Lot of people are unable to get out of the darkness, because they don't have the light of Jesus. In the darkness, people will get lost. But if they are lost and they ask Jesus for help, then they will see that candle light of Jesus. If this doesn't help any try reading the Bible. Revelation chapter 1. I encourage you to read the whole chapter. Then you will see where the candle light came from. I hope that this information helps you.

To me, it says that no matter how dark it may be, just a single spark of light from either a candle or a match will make everything bright.
Spiritually speaking: Satan tries to darken the world with hatred and so much sin, but with just a little bit of love, from the light of the World, (Jesus) shining in our lives and spreading forth from our hearts to one another, we can all, in time, dispel all the darkness in the world, one person at a time.

Yeshua (Jesus) said, "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid. Let your light so shine so that people may see your good works and glorify your Father Who is in heaven."
It means no matter how dark the world is... no matter how much evil swirls around us...no matter how much unbelievers laugh at those who trust in Messiah... that a person's faith will be a light of hope and truth to those around that person-- whether they accept his or her words or not.
It means that if a room is dark, one candle makes a difference... and one believer's life does, too.

Light ALWAYS overcomes darkness. No matter how dark it is, when you light a candle it's light will penetrate the darkness. Light is the stronger force. Try it....cover all of your windows and eliminate every source of light in your house. Make your house and dark as you can possibly get it. Then turn on a flashlight or light a candle....the light will overcome the darkness no matter how dark it is in your house.

notice how it says the light.i believe it portrays how one person who came to light the world with the very flame of God endured through the darkness of this present age.Although evil lurks waiting...although every day draws near to the end, there is hope that cannot be extinguished...this Light of the world who came down into darkness proved this by overoming evil itself...upon a cross he was nailed, the king of king's crown was of thorns pressing into his holy flesh, pierced with our transgressions...satan thought he blew out the candle but then the light only glew brighter..The Light of the world is a living Lord...This light also glows withen all of us...we have the power to conquer satan's schemes of destruction...but many hide it under a bushel, few upon a hill...there is hope...will the darkness of today blow out your flame?

Darkness cannot overcome the power of light. It is quite the opposite, light penetrates into the darkness just as a sunrise does every morning. One physical source of light illuminates our entire universe.

light a candle.
Spiritual darkness can't extinguish the light of God or the light a Christian displays from having God's Spirit in them.

It is true. If the world was pitch black, and someone lit one candle, light would reach out in every direction. Makes me think of Jesus...the Light of the whole world.
Neat, huh?

There cannot be absence of light (darkness) in the presence of light (the candle flame). Elementary physics.

when i turn off the light there is nothing there, no sense to make it real, i turn on a candle , there is fire something seen, felt and you can smell, it has a sense of something, without it you have nothing, and something is more powerful than nothing no matter the amount (an empty life without meaning)
