Im making hot cocoa (just basic in the microwave) and it calls for two Tbsps of white sugar...but I only have one Tbsp. left. Can I use a Tbsp of brown sugar to substitute or will it taste weird?

You can substitute white for brown, and it will change the flavor, but not a whole lot. Especially not in hot chocolate. The brown sugar is sweeter than the white, so don't use quite as much.

Brown sugar and white sugar are both sweeteners, but different ones. Substituting things like that may give you a new cookie- not necesarily better or as good as the ones you intended to make, although it is a possiblity

Yes, it will most likely taste wierd. Brown sugar is white sugar with molasses....basically a less refined sugar. You can substitute white for brown with some small taste differences but not the other way around.

You can certainly substitute the Brown for White and yes it will taste a bit different, I like the taste though, it seems richer, not weird at all.

You can, but it will add a sort of carmel type flavor to the drink. Corn syrup would be better or even some vanilla or chocolate ice cream would sweeten it up without changing the flavor too much.

Go buy a different brand of cocoa with sugar already in it.

Yes you can. I use it all the time for whatever. There really doesn't seem to be a big difference and if anything, it tastes better.

Try it. If you don't like it don't drink it and you will know next time not to use it. I hope it's good. You have inspired me to make some of my own on this cold winter evening. Happy Holidays!

you can do that. brown sugar is the natural color of sugar,so it doesn't make a difference.
