Shaving your head meant something a long time ago. It meant that you were renouncing a proper life in normal society to dedicate yourself to being a monk. But that's kind of out dated and unnecessary in modern times.

In fact, shaving your head can actually reinforce attachments. It can reinforce your attachment to Buddhism itself, which IS an attachment. It doesn't matter if a person has no hair, a mullet, or a purple mohawk. Every scene has it's Buddhas. Who are we to judge?
