I was driving behing a car that deliberately brakes for no reason, I went into the back of them and they claimed injuries even though there weren't any? I went into the back of them, and they got out of the car, instantly about 20 members of the family were there with cameras etc. Obviously i got the blame - no insurance company will disagree with a rear end collision... I lost my no-claims bonus and they walkied away smirking, what did you do?

Of course.. im sure every person on here who tries to get out of being at fault for an accident (which is EVERYONE) has been in your "situation."

While im not saying the other party isnt delibrately acting hurt or that they didnt delibrately brake... accept the fact that your at fault here (you NEED to maintain proper distance from the vehicle in front of you.) and understand your insurance will pay out for their injuries in order to PROTECT you from being sued personally.

Trust me, it makes me sick to pay out money to "fake injuries" but id rather pay 500 any day then have this person go after you and make your life a living hell. Just remember.. what goes around comes around. they will get whats coming.

(and just as a side note.. please please.. and im sure as an intelligent person you know this anyways.. dont listen to the people who say "sue them back!" .. thats so ridiculous... why would you need a lawyer in this situation? who would you sue? and for what? dont worry.. your insurance doesnt wanna pay out just as much as you dont.. leave it to the pros)

Oh Babe you fell for the biggest scam going in this country just now. They did it on purpose but I think if you go into there details you will find they dont have a licence or insurance etc.. It is just a big scam babe, the rear driver is always to blame and that is law, next time babe just dont get close enough to hit them. Does it not sound a bit sus to you that the family where there with cams etc. To be quite honest I would let them take it to court and when you give the evidence you will win. Sorry you fell for that one but it is really big at the mo. best wishes and good luck.

Another example of a staged accident, which has been the subeject of media coverage recently. Obviously, they have you crash into them, typically by braking suddenly in front of you and giving you no time to react, forcing you to rear-end them rather like your situation, then they go crying to the insurance company about false injuries (whiplash is a common one), defrauding them out of substantial amounts of money, and they don't give a stuff about the likes of you, who they've just used as part of their thieving ways. You may have lost your NCB and now find yourself paying £1000 p/y but they've now hit the jackpot.

If you believe the papers, this thing would appear to be on the increase, so chances are, you might not be alone.

IN the end, it doesn't just affect you. It can also have a knock-on effect on the premiums of other innocent motorists, especially if thy find themselves living in a insuance fraud 'hotspot', such as Bradford, where there's been a few cases reported by the local press.

Your need to contact your insurance agent and explain what you witnessed. They have special fraud investigators who research and throroughly investigate these type of claims. They may find that the people who claim it was your fault have done this many several times before in an effort to obtain quick cash. There are many road scams such as those. Generally, these types are known to the insurance companies. Be persistent with your agent. Also, you were there and perhaps you could run an ad in your local paper or with flyers asking anyone who may have witnessed the accident to contact you and/or your insurance agent. Do not give up. If those people in the car claimed injuries and collected, your insurance company will sue them in an effort to recoop their losses. Stick to your guns and fight it if you believe you were a victim of fraud. Good luck to you.

there is a ring of people (one did it to me) who commit insurance fraud by doing similar things as you had happened to you, especially with the 20 members with cameras, it sure seems like it was planned. I proved my case in court and then learned the people who ran into me when I was stopped, did this for a living and made well over a million dollars, they are now in jail! The sad thing in your case, you were the car that hit him, so as the law goes, you are at fault. Who ever made that law should really re-evaluate it. Hopefully they do not try to sue you personally for injuries. If that happens, get a really good attorney, you will need one. Take care.

Bite the bullet and go about your way. Unless you have lots of time to devote for research. You can check on all other such accidents, it the same car, or people come up over and over Your Ins Co will be more than glad to with the aid of the law to prosecute them. I doubt you will receive an money, but you will have that warm feeling of doing something right. And maybe save you or some of your friends a similar accident.

You didnt make a police report and tell an officer that she slammed on her brakes to make your hit her??? The insurance companies sure as hell will disagree with a rear collison if the person did that on purpose its called insurance fraud. I would contact a lawyer now but it may be too late if you didnt say anything in the first place.

This little scam is becoming more and more popular, especially among some of the ethnic groups that feign poor knowledge of UK road laws.

Its worth considering fitting a digital video camera to your vehicle ( they are now cheaper than a decent alarm system).

Fit it to the dash and it will back you up in the case of a problem occurring like this, and even giving registration details and location information. but be warned it will also show if you were too close!

Stay safe

sounds like fraud to me man. It sucks but there are people out there who get thier rocks off doing that same thing and chances are you are not the only victim. just take a camera everywhere you go and make sure you can CYA cover your *** as much as you can. If you see brake lights coming on for no reason fall back further or switch lanes. it just sucks

i've been rear ended but didn't feign any injuries. i didn't have any but a month later my back was killing me. the girl was nice enough just to pay for the damages and we exchanged insurance information. they just sound mean. people that do this just want incentive to rip other people off..i mean braking for no reason? i braked on red but she thought i was going to speed through yellow at 5 mph! that is messed up what happened to you though! con artists!

I think you should find a lawyer to help you sue them back. Look up the medical records for the claims paid for and injuries they claim. If there are none SUE THIER F******* ASSES OFF!!!! I know your pissed and want to stalk them and if you had a pellet gun you'd probably make those claims real, huh? But My friend was done this way and she would fight it with her own attorney, she said it was too much hassle. AAAAGGGGGGG!!! I hope you try!
