Translation: He knows nothing about women.
One thing men who know women know is that women in our culture never initiate anything. That is probably the biggest difference between a guy who is successful with women and a guy who is not. The successful guy knows that anything that is going to happen will ONLY happen due to what he does. The unsuccessful guy is always looking for the woman to match what he is saying or doing and is mystified when nothing happens.
In this case, he is strongly hinting that he is available, expecting you to come on to him. That's not going to happen unless you are a really exceptional woman (and then, what interest would you have in a guy like this....lol). He wants deniability. He doesn't want to risk being rejected by you.
What he should have done is, first of all, noticed that you like him. Then, he should have taken you aside, looked you right in the eye and said, "I like you....ALOT." "I want you to be my girlfriend." Being direct by saying something like this would make everything turn out right between you two. But, he's not doing that, so he deserves a good kick in the pants for it.
Now. You can either die of old age waiting for him to screw up the courage to do something like this or you can just go be with someone else. Or, you could get what you want by being different than most other girls. Tell him you like him and that you know he likes you too and that you are really pissed off at him for not having the balls to be upfront with you about it. Make it clear in no uncertain terms that you expect improvement from him. You might be surprised at the response you get.
Men and women who are of a mind to know what they want and go after it, almost always get it. Everyone else lives lives of quiet desperation.

Definately jump at the opportunity he's so thankfully layed out for you. Tell him that your lonely for a bf too and that you don't see how such a handsome, (complements here) guy like him doesn't have a girl. And then say that maybe you could fix it if he doesn't catch on. Good Luck.

Well he may be hinting hes lonley because he likes you. so only if you truly like him should you tell him you do like him.... If you don't then find him a gf play the dating relationship helper person.

Why not invite him out for coffee or a soft drink. Be his friend, if it turns into more then that's awesome, the best relationships start with friendship.

Dude, totally move in! If he told you, then he is aparantly like into you. why tell you when he could tell some other girl. Its like a 'sign'
