There is a difference between historical Jesus and the Jesus that Christians worship.

Other than the Bible and the word of the Church, there is no other proof that Jesus is actually god. I personally think that he was just a prophet. Muslims believe that as well. But in the end, no one really knows...

He is a Son of God. The Bible says that He was in the beginning with God before the foundations of the world.
It also says that God made all things through His Son.
He came down here to earth to take on human flesh, so that He, a righteous person, could be the sacrifice for our sins against God.
People gave Him so much adoration because He talked about the things of heaven and how God wants us to live.
Now He is in heaven with His Father, and His Spirit is our intercessor.
He shall return again, and this time He will set up a Kingdom that will last for ever and ever.
How can we prove it? When we accept Jesus into our heart, the Holy Spirit comes to live in us, and we become a different person.
The things that were normal for us to do, we don't feel right doing them, and the things that we wouldn't think of doing, we feel a need to do them.
Until a person accepts Jesus, and allows the Holy Spirit to take residence in their mind, body, heart and soul, they could not even imagine how different life is after believing in Jesus.
But you have to ask Him to come into your heart.

A simple prophet cannot make that kind of change in a person's life.

It is really refreshing to see such a great question. I believe it deserves a respectful answer. In fact I will try to answer it without religious dogma, and just simply answer it the best I can with my heart.

I believe he really did exist, and regardless of his connection to God, his documented sacrifice which no one seems to deny is worthy our study. His perceptions of His relationship to God span the spectrum from insanity to someone truly of God; and for this reason, we all feel compelled to understand this Man. If for any other reason, He made us think...think about many things, including our worldly life and our after life. He is adored because, as was then, and is now, there are not many REAL admirable people in the world. People of high integrity, moral character, and unconditional Love; I believe he was one of these few people who have walked this earth. He influenced the human race so much, we now scale our calendar by his birth, and each day we say the date, we inadvertently acknowledge his existence.

To me He is the Son of God, but not because this is the ultimate truth or because of some religion. I believe He is the Son of God because probability says that after so many billions of births, and with all humans spanning the endpoints of a human behavior distribution, it is inevitable that one human will be born perfect, and this balances the few who have been extremely imperfect. It may also predict why another will one day come. So, that is my only proof...just as there is a 1 and 37,000,000 chance to win the lottery and it happens, there is a 1 and a trillion chance a perfect human will be born. I believe that has happened.

So, what does this mean for you? It means that there is much to learn about this Man/God named Jesus. There are many sources, so choose wisely. Listen to your heart...I believe He is in there, or you wouldn't be asking the question. He has guided many to very noble and peaceful lives, including myself. In a state of extreme life changing guilt, I believe He appeared to me in a vision; He was happy to see me, and He simply said, "Welcome, I have been praying for the day that you would let Me into your heart." and since then I have. Someday, I hope you feel the joy of His spiritual influence. Real or not...doesn't really matter. I don't go to church, or read the Bible often; I just try to let Him onto my life. I like sharing my life with someone so special, and in my mind, I think He likes to spend time with me too. Enjoy the journey...and remember, every life has a purpose.

Jesus was the Almighty God in the flesh ,many men claimed to be god but only one God claimed to be man

Jesus himself repeatedly claimed to be God, at least in the "history" of him as written in the Bible. So, basically, he had to have been one of the following: a crazy person, a pathological liar - or actually God, as he claimed.

the god of all sent his son as a bridge for the faithful, to allow for man's shortcomings, which he could not forgive himself.
in his day, it was a very small minority who adored jesus. why do you think he was crucified?
time and the avid few created the jesus which came down to us.

You don't prove.

It all starts with faith.

However, if interested, a book by Lee Stroebel called The Case for Christ, is prettttttty amazing.
