I want a tattoo, but I want it to look good as long as possible. If the lines are small, do they look worse faster than thicker ones? If they do, do they look good again if you get it redone?

It's the level of detail in a tattoo that makes it look worse over time. The more detail and lines you have, the bigger chance they are going to warp or squeeze if you get bigger or smaller in that area.

The tattoo artist can show you samples that will keep well over time. Also, ask them to show you their older tattoos, and you can see how they look after several years.

I love tattoos, but I think sometimes people either don't have the money or the patience to sit through a lengthy session, so they have a bunch of random tattoos scattered around their body. After awhile it gets to look a bit silly, especially if every single tattoo they have is nothing more than run-of-the-mill flash they picked off the wall on the spur of the moment. I love large pieces because there is a sense of continuity and commitment. I have three tattoos. Two are matching, one on each bicep. The one on my back was very simple, because it was my first and I was so worried about the pain and worried the artist may screw something up. I've waited almost four years since my last tattoo, because I've been wanting a larger piece done on my upper back to be a continuation of my first one. People have opinions, I suppose. I find it rather hypocritical to say tattoos look good on men, but trashy on women or say that large pieces are trashy, but not a bunch of small ones. My mom is always trying to talk me out of getting more done, but I'm almost thirty ears old so I just chalk it up as her old school opinion that the only people who get tattoos are sailors, bikers and prisoners.

you have to protect your tattoo from the sun. most people with faded yuck tattoos have had them exposed to the sun a lot. usually, in my opinion larger tattoos look better because they can be more detailed and look less yuck after time. but that's just my opinion. good luck with your tattoo.

I have large and small tattoos, new and old. 6mo.- 25 years. all look good. how they age depends alot on how good the artist is.and how deep the ink is. the tattoos done improperly will fade and look crappy in a couple of years. check out the artists new and old work
