Use a curling iron with lots of hair spray. Spray the hair while you have it wrapped around the curling iron, then again once you are all finished curling it. Trust me, it works wonders! Oh, it must be an extra hold hair spray for best results. There are heat styling sprays that also help hold the curl in. I use Hot Curl Setting Lotion (spray) aka: Big Sexy Curls. You can find this at most hair places, salons or beauty supply stores (planet beauty also has it). Another great thing is to use the hair dryer when you curling your hair, then spray it before you let it out of the curling iron, the heat from the blow dryer helps hold the curl in with the help from the hair spray.

OMG I have the same problem because my hair is naturally pretty straight and its really thick and long and heavy...so heres what I do...it kinda damages hair so I dont do it often
I wash my hair with Wash and Curl(which only helps enhance curls..it doesnt actually curl)
then I spray in Brilliant Brunette Starlit Waves by John Frieda...you shake it up and then just spray all over and use you hands to kinda work it throughout your hair and stuff...then I scrunch my hair a little
then I let it airdry or if i'm in a hurry i'll blowdry it (which adds to the damage-best to use an Ion Dryer)
When its COMPLETELY dry I comb it out which can take a while but dont brush!
So then I just seperate my hair into sections (I assume you know how to curl hair right)
I take each section and spray on this curl booster stuff-I forget the name but I can find it out for you-lots of companys make similar products)
I let the curl booster dry and then take each individual section and curl it...while i'm rolling the curling iron(Ceramic) I spray ALITTLE hairspray(you want your curls to look natural and bouncy and not stiff)
as I let out the iron I catch and spiral the curl(smaller sections the better) around a finger...I then make fix it into ints natural ring and then use this setting on my blow dryer..it doesnt blow really hard and its like cold...you could always just blow on it yourself if you want so that way the curl has a chance to set itself before the heat just leaves and it goes limp
So I do that to all of the sections
I then spritz curl booster all over..but not too much and then let it dry.
Then use your fingers to seperate the curls and make it look the way you want.
The key parts of this:
you have to be VERY patient..but its soooo worth it
take your time and dont rush
dont get frustrated
Hope I helped!

If your hair is not in good condition, you are not going to be able to style your hair.
You must take really good care of your hair and it will take really good care of you!
Try taking a little break and doing 20 minute deep conditioning treatments, hot oil, and using a leave in conditioner.
2x a week for a few weeks.
Once the moisture balance is back into your hair, you should have no problems styling.
You may need some protein as well as moisturizing to build back up your hair.
A really cheap way to go, is to get some deep conditioning treatments at a hair school for like, 12.00. They'll love to dote on you and put their best potions to work.
Focus on hair care first, and then start styling again.
Limit the heat, etc...
Best of luck!

once you wash your hair, do it at evening. at the same time as it really is moist, french braid it, or braid it. about 4 might want to do. Sleep like this in a single day, then once you awaken, even if it remains moist, take a blowdryer to it. Then take out the braids and also you should have some curls. it will be a superb theory to placed some gel or something in it previously you braid it. also, try curling shampoo to maximise the curls. enable me recognize if it works!

i would suggest getting it layered cause its the weight of your hair that makes the curl fall out easily then i would get a perm using the big perm rods to give it a little bit of body and that will help hold the curl (hairdresser)

You can get a perm at a salon if you want the curls to stay in for a long time.

Apply a setting lotion to wet/damp hair and then roll it up with hair curlers. Works for me. Keep curls all day until i roll it up again at night.
