My husband looks heavy in the neck in photos, even when he is not that heavy. I find that any photo that has him looking up tends to eliminate that problem and any photo that is looking down is not flattering. I can also tell you that clothes can make a big difference. I have a friend who is self conscious about her left over maternity weight and she wears grey clothes and then puts a light colored scarf around her neck that hangs down to her hips and that scarf makes a huge difference - it's similar to a man wearing a white button down shirt and a dark jacket over top. If the closes fit just loosely enough it gives the appearance of a slimmer person.
Peace!

No tight fitting clothes as they only accentuate the fat. Wear dark clothes as dark recedes from the vision while light or white colour expands and moves towards the viewer. Striped or vertical two colour split top and striped trousers as it increases vertical height visually. Stand the model sideways tilting slightly towards the camera, next to smaller object to give the feeling of height. Use landscape mode so there is more free space on both sides of the model. Make the model stand with three forth light falling on the model from the side so one third part of the model remains dark. Happy photographing.

Accessorize, like maybe a purse, jewelry or some other prop. Maybe sitting, turning or twisting a certain way. Dark colored clothes help too of course-loose clothes, sleeves or jeans. If it's in the face, perhaps styling the hair a different way.

Ugh. Been there tried that. It's tough...lighter clothing colors help, also the background. And vertical stripes obviously won't make their girth appear less. Outdoor shots, in natural surroundings, but nothing nearby to compare their size to (like skinny trees, lightpoles, and such). Good luck.

Try not to use flash ´cause the harsh light isn´t flattering for anybody - shoot straight ahead, not from above or below the person...that´s all i can think of.

Wear black, It gives off a thinner appearance. No stripes, they accentuate size.

make sure your subject is well lit. NOT OVERHEAD LIGHT. It's not very flattering to have harsh shadows accentuating a double chin.
