First of all, Postal Money Orders are only good up to 1,000.00 for the domestic version. On the international Postal Money Order, they are only good up to 700.00. Look for certain security features such as the foil strip just to the left of the oval that contains Ben Franklin's head in it when you tilt it. Also, there is a certain formula that goes into creating that 11 digit serial number on the item. If anyone else thinks they have a bogus money order, email me at mdbjr2@charter.net and I can tell you if it is fake or not.

If all you have done is deposited the money order then you are safe but if you inturn sent the person in Dubai a fee for them sending you that moey order then the answer is yes you have been defrauded. In the future just check with the bank that is listed on the check/money order and they will tell you if you have a legit piece of paper in your hand. A lot of ppl have been defrauded because they send checks to these fake set ups that are suppose to be processing fees in order to get the face value of the check. Thousands of scams out there. When in doubt, check it out. Good luck.

why in the world would u accept money from someone u dont know? Did he ask you to set up an account just for this purpose?
If so ,, it is called money laundering. And if that is the case you may expect a call from treasury department. My sister had the same thing happen to her. She was not held responsible in any way. Better to cut this person loose or u may wind up somewhere u really dont want to be.

You will have to track down who the money order was from and take them to small claims court.

Maybe you should ask Santa to give him a lump of coal for Christmas. That should teach him a lesson.
