I have to wonder if I'm the only American who questions the rationale behind the daily retaliation for 911. How can we believe that the attack on America to be wrong when we continue to attack daily? How many innocent lives must be taken before we stand up and say 'enough'? Doesn't anyone realize that we will all be included when America is judged ? "Evil flourishes when good men do nothing", but I know that the majority of us struggle just to survive trying to count our blessings to save our sanity.
Yet, as a human being I am ashamed.

Well get your ashamed self to the internet and look into what is happening. Take stock of the situation, seek out answers to what is motivating the constant bloodshed, and how things have been different from what was orginially anticipated. What would cause a civil war in Iraq? The Sunnies hate the Shias, and yet they are both Muslim Faiths and Muhammad commanded them not to kill each other. They can torture, rape, murder and decieve Jews and Christians in the name of Allah, but they were commanded to never do this to other Muslims. Check out the Quran and the many many commands to hate. Check out the verse 9:11. Then take a look at the various countries, Iran backing the terrorists Hezzbollah, Syria backing Hamas, Iraq sitting on a billion dollar payroll from oil which all four of these groups think they are entitled to...that's just for starters. I haven't mentioned the nuclear threat. Time to learn, and be ashamed of laziness when you find the facts.

Guess what. An illegal immigrant is worth as much as you are. He/she is a person too and should expect the same treatment and rights as do you. Unfortunately, illegal immigrants are being marginalized from society by people like you. If you knew anything about economics, you would know that immigration must be stimulated to encourage long-term economic growth. Curiously, the Scandinavian countries, which have the most successful integration policies in the world, also enjoy some of the lowest crime rates and highest standards of living worldwide. The key lies in COOPERATION between humans. What is the point in categorizing people, we are all people regardless of culture, nationality or gender. Note also that immigration is a very difficult thing; you have to leave behind your entire life - friends, family, culture, job... - in a very risky undertaking. NOONE would do this if a genuine improvement in standard of living cannot be expected, so noone leaves all this behind to sabotage or harm another culture. Try looking at the situation from the perspective of another person.

Be assured, the war in Iraq is not in retaliation for 9/11 - it is a response to the acts of war and indiscriminate murder of thousands of innocent people by a group of demented Islamic radicals around the globe.
History has clearly demonstrated that negotiations, appeasement and diplomacy only led to more terror attacks - these forms of civilized dispute resolutions are simply seen as a sign of weakness by the terrorists.

A direct quote from alQueda concerning Islam:
"If America will not convert on its own, we will eventually become strong enough to topple the government and convert America and her people by force."

9/11 was a demonstration of this objective.

Do you really think we should wait longer and see if alQueda is bluffing?

Your ashamed of Americans but not the insurgents? Insurgents want to rule the Iraqi people and run the country the way they want. Not only killing Americans but Iraqis and anyone else who wants FREEDOM. They think women should stay inside and want to outlaw dancing among other things. We did Iraq a favor by taking Saddam out of power, now it is up to the Iraqi military.

It is called war, not murder! People die in war lady! While we hope we kill more of the enemy, we end up losing men ourselves. Good men are doing something. They are trying to set up a democracy in the middle east to combat some of the radical bs that comes out of the ME.

Mam, we live in a world that has wars and those wars need to be fought by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You? The military personel have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for terrorist and insurgents and curse the military; you have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what they know: that military deaths, while tragic, probably saved lives and that their existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives.
You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties you want them in that war, you need them in that war. They use words like honor, code, loyalty. They use them as the backbone of a life trying to defend something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a woman who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom they provide and then questions the manner in which they provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you," and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest that you pick up a weapon and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think!

I don't think you really understand the situation. This isn't just about 9/11. This is about terrorists everywhere. Al Qaeda was in Iraq. Now they're being run out. The only problem with Iraq now is the insurgency.

How is america attacking daily? Do you really comprehend the situation. Please do me a favor and don't vote.

No, your not alone. I have never understood the why of Iraq. They did nothing to us. Many people are wondering what we are doing there & with good reason. We, as a nation, are already being judged by both God & man. Very few Americans believe we should be there but our government does nothing to get us out. Why have we heard so little from congress & the senate? How can this President continue sending our young to be killed? What will stop him? We can't wait two more years. Impeach him, now!

Your question should be posed to the Iraqi Militias that are aiming their weapons at their neighbors, crowds of shoppers, lines of innocent ppl just trying to do the right thing - to get a job, be trained and stand up for their country. These same milititants are planting their IED's, suicide bombers, and lobbing mortar rounds into the American bases where hospitals are trying to save lives. How can we just walk away & leave the Iraqis untrained, in such a chaotic state.? That in and of itself would be shameful...That they have risked their lives to vote (most for the first time in their lives), they risk their lives to join police forces, army training, and even those opening shops are risking their lives, to walk away and leave them would most certainly be shameful

As you state, in a way, these are hard times. Hard times are that way for a reason. War forces you to make choices and that is tough for some people. Stand up for your country, not humanity. These people want us dead and you MUST understand that.

I agree with you Ms M, I have been in the military for a while now and I'm starting to wonder if we are getting ourselves into another Vietnam. We started out with a pretty clear plan to take Saddam out of power and give it back to the people. The problem is that the three major political entities in Iraq (Sunnis, Shittes, and Kurds) do not want to try and resolve their issues. If the people of the country do not want to work their problems out how are we going to do it with more troops. Also if we went to war against every political leader we didn't like or accept as a good leader we would be in a war in all corners of the earth.
