God is a Righteous Judge. Something people don't like to think of Him being. The cost of sin is death, this is what God told Adam while in the garden. When a crime has been committed there is a penalty or cost involved depending on the crime committed. Justice has to be meet with the proper punishment. An eye for an eye, tooth for tooth. That is a just law. Because the penalty for sin is death Jesus had to pay that price, the only thing is He to had to be without sin, or He would have been guilty of the same thing Adam was.Jesus was that perfect payment for our sin. For those who except Him and confess Him before men, He also will confess before His Father.

For a very long time, the doctrine of the Trinity has been a hot topic between a number of Christian churches and denominations - so much so that, over the centuries, Christians have tragically persecuted, and even killed, other Christians in an effort to "prove" who was right!
"And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth; we have beheld His glory, glory as of the only Son from The Father." (John 1:14 RSV)

I think I asked that question at my catholic primary school. I asked a lot of questions like that, you know, "if gods not matter, then he doesnt have ears. How does he hear our prayers?" "If heavens not a physical place, how can you go there body and soul?" You know what happened every single time? I ended up on my knees, on the unforgiving wooden pew(my knees are screwed for life) praying for forgiveness, never actually sure what I needed to be forgiven for! All christians hate smart people with questions like that. They tell me jesus died on the cross to remind us that god can also suffer as we do, that it is nessesary to suffer to be purged of sin. Now Im older and wiser I just see the same dying god that we have worshipped since the beginning of time, except in the christian version, no goddess comes to revive and rescue him. How Cruel.

I have so much to say about the subject, but you began by stating your conclusion already.
It's just that I fail to see the logic in you asking a question that you have no intellectual investment in my answer. You said that you decided that there is no logic in the 'son of god' dying.
What are you asking for then?
Thumbs up.
" Why wouldn't god threaten to kill himself instead? "
He wasn't going to stay dead. There really is so much here you don't understand, you should be a little more humble in your approach.
If you do that, maybe I'll consider telling you about it.

because this was Gods promise to us. God needed the perfect sacrifice and since mankind was riddled with sin we were cut of from direct contact with God. So God manifested Himself into the human form of Jesus the Christ, to serve as the perfect unblemished sacrifice.

It was the only way for mankind to know god,was through his son, whom he sent as a living sacafice, to die for our sins. As in John 14:6." I am the way the truth and the life, no man cometh unto the father, except through him.".which is Jesus. If you believe and except christ in your heart he will enter and dwell in you and make you new..You have a garantee with God in Heaven if you believe in his son..Being a Christian, is a process where after you have excepted him, you want to become more like Jesus..Thats what the word Christian means, "Christlike"..God gave us a free gift..Salvation, through his grace, all you have to do is recieve it, and believe..Simple..Huh?

IT was man that screwed up and God was the one to fix it. But God had to come into the world legally and the only way into this world is through birth.
(John 10:1) Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.

in the beginning we were sinless and like god, basicallly were in eden, which was much like heaven, then we sinned, so sence we disobeyed our master and creater, Romans 6:23 says "for the wages of sin is death but the gift of god is eternal life in jesus christ our lord". so sence we sinned, our "wages" or penalty is death aka hell, BUT JESUS didn't sin, so he didn't deserve death, yet he died anyway as a sacrifice , he died not out of obligation, like us but as a sacrifice, he died in our place, was in hell for 3 days, and rose from the dead proving that death had not hold on him, and sence he, was human for 33years, went through life just as all other humans do, was temped like a human, was killed like a murder, all through of this without sinning at all, he has payed our debt to death, so all who accept him and follow him will go to heaven, those who don't sadly, will go to hell, sounds narrow minded, but the truth is a narrow one.
