Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Absolutely gorgeous. Drive the Cabot Trail, take in a ceileidh, stuff yourself with the best seafood on the planet, visit Canada's only Scotch distillery. The finest people in the world, too.

Canada is a very big place. It depends how far you want to travel into Canada. The Eastern Townships in Quebec near the Vermont border is lovely and VERY quiet.

You could go to the Rockies. Kananaskis is a nice, quite place, and it is fairly close to Calgary so it is easy to get to.
