My whole life I've had odd "migraines." As a child sometimes I could hear what sounded like echoes or muffled "voices." The doctors said it had something to do with auditory somethin-or-other during the migraine, but it was never accompanied with a headache. Then, sometimes, I could "see" textures, if that makes any sense. I would close my eyes and feel as though I was going through waves, but I could also see the waves.
As I got older, I began to have the headaches by themselves where they would be the typical migraine (light sensitivity, naseau, etc.). Once I was pregnant with my first child, I started losing feeling in my face and one side of my body.
Now, I'll have episodes where I won't be able to hear, my vision will become limited, I can't feel or touch things, nor can I comprehend conversation. Sometimes, I'll even forget words or say them backwards.
I had a CAT scan which came back neg. for brain tumors, and I also had a test done as a child while you're sleeping.

I don't have a doctor right now as we don't have the money. Does this sound like migraines or should we start putting money away to save for this?

I would see a neurologist as soon as you could. It may be migraine related as there are soooo many different symptoms that people have, but what if it isn't. You will want to know right away. Don't waste anytime, try and get there as soon as possible.

It sounds like a migrane to me... but the "episodes" are bizarre...
I would be a pain in my doctors rump until they figured out why this is happening.
That's scary, especially since you are a parent.
Have you tried keeping a food diary to see if something you are ingesting triggers it?
That would be my advice.
