and realized that there was no sense trying to rationalize with them because they blindly believe every word of the bible and only give a vague answer when you ask a valid, reasonable question.

Yeah, its like talking to a brick wall. Whenever you catch them in a contradiction, or anything they cannot explain, they just say, "Well, you just have to have faith" or "You just gotta believe".

Yeah....if I just "believe" that I can fly, then I'll do it, right?

You know what a fanatic is?

Someone who believes something a little bit more than you do. :)

If you think religious fanatics are bad, how about football fanatics? People do all kinds of bizarre things in honor of their favorite football team, but no one bats an eye about that.

I think you should read Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis and Evidence that Demands a Verdict by Josh McDowell.

I think you should figure out where Jesus's (Yeshua's) body is or if He was resurrected like these fanatics believe. :)

From a loving fanatic, :)

YES, to all of ur questions. I wonder how one can deal with that? I only ask because I have a couple in my family. They even twist religion around and manipulate it to get their way! It's sickening; but I do know that the Bible is written in such a way(as a lot of things are), that two peopl reading the same thing will come away with different conclusions. And there are those fanatics, who believe they're right and want to convince evryone they come in contact with of this. AHHHHH!!! They drive me nuts!

OH BOY! You should have met the two christians in my old english composition class! They even tried to disprove carbon dating because it proves that earth is more than, what, 30K years old... What a boring life "god" makes you live! The only thing religion I believe in is the morals the bible tries to teach (NOT about no pre-marital sex!). Despite the lack of "cool" things they're allowed to do, they seem like a cheery bunch!

Yep, the earth is clearly flat, the stars would all easily fit on the surface of the earth, and everything revolves around the earth!

I have talked with them quite frequently on the Internet. And yes, I have had the experience several times of having them start into totally ridiculous stuff. However, the way I see it, if they're still trying to use logic to prove themselves right at all, there's a faint hope of making them understand the truth. The ones that REALLY make me sick are the ones that actually admit their position is illogical and makes no sense but keep it anyway.

Religious fanatics are not restricted to just to Christianity, you find them in every belief system. That is the nature on fanaticism. They are not rational.

I spoke with a muslim who was fanatical about his beliefs, he HATED jews, christians, basically anyone who wasn;t a muslim, he believed the koran was the undisputed word of "allah" and could not be wrong. He swore his alliegance to the hadiths and to the muhammed, he swore to wage jihad when he could because it was commanded of him in the koran, to KILL the infidel at every chance, to wage HOLY WAR against those who were not muslim, so yes, I have spoken to a REAL fanatic.....

Meet them on a daily basis, they comment everytime they see my Pentacle jewelry. they can't seem to accept that others have different spiritual views and call the Pentacle satans symbol.

My response is always "it must be tough going through life as ignorant and uneducated as you". Trying to educate them has always turned into an argument so why bother.
