While both are admirable and well versed in their craft, there are subjective issues that come up on occasion which have led the two of them to conflicting protocol suggestions. Whose advice do you generally think is more productive and appropriate? I will not give my answer, as I would like to read all of yours without argument.

Peggy Post is the great granddaughter in law of Emily Post, etiquette maven extraordinaire. She does a column for good Housekeeping.

I collect etiquette books and have always found Miss Manners to be the most well informed, including in reference to "new" etiquette such as the use of cell phones in public, etc. I have often wondered if Ms. Post would be a columnist if not for her famous relation. In addition, Miss Manners presents her material with wit, always appreciated by this reader.

Miss Manners is by far the best etiquette maven going.
Having read a number of things that Peggy Post has said, my conclusion is that she is trading on grandmother Emily's reputation.

oh little johnny is always a great student>>>>>>>>>Little Johnny walks into school one day to find a substitute in place of his regular teacher. She says, "Hello class, I'm Mrs. Prussy. When you say my name class remember it has an "r" after the first letter." The entire class says, "Hello Mrs. Prussy." A few days later the regular teacher is still sick when Little Johnny gets to his desk the teacher asks what her name is. Johnny thinks hard and the says to the teacher, "I remember it has an "r" after the first letter." "That's right!" she coaxed. Then after a few seconds Little Johnny says, "Mrs. Crunt?"
