I am looking for a good cannable homade salsa, or chip dip ,or hot sauce recipe.?
I am more of a fan of jalapeno,or serrano peppers,I like the heat of the habanero but dislike the flavor alot,so please ,no recipes with habaneros.I would like some good tried and true family favorite recipes, not just something off the net.I want some recipes that are truly worth the time and effort to make, and I can be proud of. Thank you.

I can my own salsa each year and give it away for gifts. Each year it tastes a little different based on what ingredients I had around the house while canning. I always start with Mrs. Wages Salsa Mix (it can be purchased on-line or at local groceries near the canning products). This is a great base. I follow the directions on the back then add more onions, peppers, spices, etc. If I want it a little on the thicker side I use half food processor chopped tomatoes and half canned crushed toms. It just a great way to make easy salsa and still have it be "yours." Once all of it is canned, I make labels off the computer to personalize the outside of the jar and wha la, easy, homemade gift.

My fav is Chicken Bacon Ranch Dip:
8oz. block of cream cheese, softened at room temperature
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup mayo(use more if not creamy enough)
1 package dry fiesta ranch mix(Hidden Valley)
12.5-14oz. can of premium chuck chicken breast in water, drained
2oz. real bacon bits and pieces
1 package of ritz crackers
1 teaspoon nature's seasoning

place softened cream cheese, shredded cheese, and mayo in a mixing bowl. using an electric hand mixer, mix until creamy. add in chicken, ranch mix, and bacon bits. mix together until well blended. Chill 2 hours. Serve with crackers.
