First I'd like to apologize for posting this here when technically it doesn't belong. I really have NO idea where to stick it though, so if anyone knows that please let me know.

Now my question....I babysit for a family frequently on weekends and such. It's a married couple with a 9 year daughter and 7 year old son. Last weekend they gave me a card with $20 in it for Christmas. I really want to buy them something as well, but something for all of them not just the kids. Buying for each person individually would be financially diffult and hard considering I'd really struggle on the husband. My original plan was to bake a platter of cookies, but that kinda went down the drain today. (Long story) Does anyone have any suggestions that are very reasonable?? I'd say I could spend up to $30, which isn't much but I also had a huge family to buy for as well this year.

Thanks so much.

It is really thoughtful that you want to buy them a gift but I wouldn't spend $30 on them. They only gave you $20 so you would be putting it all back on them.

I am sure they just wanted to show their appreciation for taking great care of their children. Having a sitter your children like and you can trust is priceless.

How about a nice family ornament with all their names and the year? You can buy one of those at the kiosks in the malls or at any Christmas speciality shop.

How about a family game such as Uno? or a puzzle they can do as a family?

The cookie idea is a great one but since that fell through how about buying them a fruit basket or a cheese ball and crackers? Michaels has calenders on sale that are designed for the family - they are really neat and reasonably priced...each person gets a slot. You can buy them truffles or fudge maybe?

It isn't about the money, about the thought and just getting them a nice card and a little thing of candy will let them know you care.

Merry Christmas! SD

A gift card for pizza what ever is near $20 is good usually will feed a family of 4.
A fruit basket if you make it your self for the kids you can throw in there favorite fruit and this can cost around $20 as well or less if you go to a fruit stand.
And last try at answering your question a movie right now at walmart new releases are $14.00 and you can even wrap a box of popcorn up or at Rite-Aid/Save on there is a popcorn gift basket for $8 it comes with to cups plastic like the popcorn cups at the movies two bags and a seasoning butter. This all together would run you under $30.
Hope this helps.

Maybe make a family movie night or a game night..for a family movie night get a couple of dvds 4 the family ( shouldnt cost much if u get a used one, ur going to wrap it anyways) and get a box of popcorn. for the game night include a family fun game such as twister or Sorry and a giftcard from pizza hut. That would be nice..dont u think?

A family gift basket. Popcorn, hot chocolate, movie size candy, & a movie (or rental gift card) or a game for the family to enjoy. A free night babysitting would not be bad either. Don't feel that you have to spend a lot, it is the thought.

Get an easy craft project and make it with the girls for the parents. For example, get smaller clear plastic frames, about a buck each at Walmart or Michaels. Then get those little foamy shapes, jewels, or paint pens, to decorate them with. You could either then do a ribbon for ornaments, or magnet for the fridge. Less than 10 bucks probably.

Maybe find a movie that is suitable for the whole family, put it, with a package of cocoa, a box of microwave popcorn, and 4 cute mugs in a basket.

Buy the family a GPS receiver (the hand-held kind, not the one you mount on your car dashboard.). Then tell them to visit Geocaching.com. It's a fun activity for a family...

I'd buy a family game like Monopoly...or Scrabble....or Sorry. and label to the whole family! Gets them playing together!

You can get just stuffed animals or some toys for their daughters. If you give the two girls gifts, then I'm sure the parents will be content and happy!
