US prison system figures, 9.5 Christians to every 1 Atheist prisoner in US jails for the most horrific of crimes?

In response to the first answerer, have they not heard that the Catholic Church in the US has more Pedophiles (by far)than in any other section of society?

These are not the Christians I know. And just because someone says they are Christian because their Aunt Bessie was Christian does not make them Christian and the same goes for atheism.
Christianity has been so prevalent for hundreds of years in the USA that most people have it in the roots of their upbringing. Also, when asked about their religion, usually that implies as a question which is referred to as a "Spiritual" type question which has everything to do with the "Spiritual" situation of our lives. Atheism on the otherhand, since they claim "No God" has no implications of spirituality whatsoever...just more of a dead zone. PEACE!!!

Well when 70-80 % of the US population consideres themselves to be Christian just do the math. Does that make it ok "no" but we are all sinners. However if you are walking the true Christian life you will not find yourself in jail for murder. What percent of the population even considers themselves to be athiests? I believe it is less than 10 % maybe less than 5? I've seen the stats before and they are low.

Well now 80% of America is a Christian and 0.5% are Atheists, so that's 0.0000000475% Christians are such criminals to 0.0000004% Atheists.
Atheists lose by one zero.

In short an atheist has almost a 10 times greater chance of being a serious criminal offender.

There's the numbers based on Population divided by offenders based on Census figures as to who declared themselves to be of what persuasion.
Do the math. 2000 Census. 80% of America declares themselves to be Christian 0.5% declare Atheist there were 250,000,000 people in 2000

They are not true Christians. Some people will call themselves Christian just because they believe. Some get saved while they are in prison after the fact. Just because on believes in God does not make on a christian!!! Boy you people just won't give it up will you?

Because most people aren't as arrogant to believe that they know everything that ever existed or will exist. That is what an atheist is. To know that there is no god means you must have absolute knowledge of everything in the universe. That's like me telling you that there is no gold in China. 10 to 1 sound like the going rate for the general overall population as well, that would explain it. A greater percentage of atheists will be thinkers, that will explain away any further anomaly.

It's what I call " Jail house religion " Most all prisoners get religion while they are on the inside. When they get out they forget all about it.
