thinking about going to Helen, ga, right after christmas, but I have heard it is more of a summer/fall location, and too cold for many of the outdoor activities. We have 3 young children (ages 3-7). Is there anything to do that is not an "outdoor activity"?

Try Chattanooga. They have a cool train that may be running. My kids loved it. There is a cave to explore (Racoon Mtn) 60 degrees F all year. And there is a great Aquarium to visit. Helen is a summer/fall destination. Not much for indoor stuff.
PS Ruby Falls in Chattanooga is a waste of money. On a pretty day even in winter Rock City is worthwhile.

not the best spot for a winter trip. you can still hike the falls and enjoy the views.
Sky Valley ski resort is about an hour away and it is a blast.
its a very small ski run, just right for a day of fun for the kids....
or im sure you know that a little further north is Cherokee, NC., Gatlinburg, TN and Pigion Forge, Tn.
good luck and have a blast....

Not a place to go in winter, and also not really a place to go with young kids because lots of walking.
