When a person gets to the point where they see that somethings not right it is time to do something about it. Many people go through their lives in a state of denial that anything is wrong with them, you have already taken the first step.
I would suggest that you have a physical exam and a complete blood work up. That will let you know if their is an organic reason for your difficulties. It could be a surplus, or a lack, of some essential hormone, etc. Organic causes are usually easier to treat and generally don't require a specialist for the treatments. A specialist may monitor treatment, but isn't required for the treatment.
If nothing is revealed, you then have a choice to make. If there is a syndrome that you fit the profile of, a Psychiatrist can perscribe an approved drug at an appropriate level.
If you are leery of behaviour modification drugs, you can try therapy with a Psychologist. This will help you to develop tools to use when you feel yourself returning to to your current patterns but it is not a short term type of solution.
Another option would be to have the exam and bloodwork done, and then enroll in an anger management course. The benefit here is that you are targeting a problem area while looking for an organic cause. Due to spousal abuse most areas have anger management courses of a fixed duration. Psychiatrists and Psychologists seldom have a set duration. This course of action may not let you get to the base cause of your difficulty, but may be a much less expensive way to gain control of it, or to at least help you determine if more help is needed.
Don't let the idea of seeing a Psychiatrist or Psychologist throw you, this world would be a much better place if people took care of their mental well being as sensibly as they do their physical well being. "Going Postal" might not have worked it's way into our language. Admitting there's a problem is more than most people do, and you seem to be looking in the right direction to deal with it, don't let anyone talk down to you over this, you are showing rare self awareness and for that reason it will make treating this easier. Take Care.

There might be other things going on that might be causing some of these symptoms. You could visit with your family doctor and be open about the manner in which you are feeling. I am not a professional but I am certain that there could be certain tests done, and then the doctor might be able to evaluate other matters. Don't leave it for too long and get it checked out.
I would like for you to let me know how things are going
As well I think that anger management courses might help as well after the evaluation on other things might be.
Wishing you well and I hope it all goes good for you
count to 10 before you release that anger.
Merry Christmas to you

I would suggest seeing a counselor or psychologist, as they are trained in diagnosing the cause of the anger issues. The problem may be that you have not learned an adequate amount of self-control, it may be a self-esteem issue, or it may be a mood disorder, particularly bipolar and unipolar depression. (Anger and irritability are very common symptoms of clinical depression).

Yes, I would seek professional help.... psychologist to start. Maybe they can make you see that you are not the little perfect princess that you think you are. They could help you realize the importance of being tolerant of others, and how very obnoxious a spoiled little brat can be.

Does it get really bad a week or so before your period? That's when mine was the worst. Sounds like hormones. I'm taking Prozac 20mg once a day. 100% better! Talk to your doctor!

Make it a point to spend your time allowing everything to be as it is.
It doesn't matter if nothing is happening, you should do this 24/7
