I am going to Times Square next week with the family and we are coming from Philadelphia. Really dont want to park in NJ. Is that my best bet or are there other options. Not really worried about money to actually park in the city. Just looking for convenience no matter the cost. Thanks.

I have a friend who drives in from Queens and uses the parking lot on the north side of 42nd Street between Ninth and Tenth Avenues.

Check this site - I think you can reserve your space ahead of time

Usually the garages along 9th & 10th Avenues run the cheapest. Only drawback is that you would walk for some long blocks...or you can grab the M42 bus to get you to Times Square from there.

A REAL alternative, if you are looking for free parking, would be to go up to the Upper West side (along the 70's and 80's) and you may luck out finding parking along the numbered streets. Then, if you don't mind grabbing the subway (buses take forever), take the "1" train (along Broadway) or the "B" and "C" along Central Park West and get out at 42nd Street. The 1 train gets you RIGHT on Times Square. The B is on 6th Ave, the C is on 8th Ave.

Just pay attention to the parking signs.

If you are coming to Manhattan mid week, you should have no problem finding parking around $75.00/day, even in Midtown. This would NOT apply to Matinee Wednesday however.

If your plans are for New Years Eve, fahgetaboutit. You couldn't buy a parking spot on the 31st.
If money is no object, take the Acella up from Philly. Would sure beat having to deal with the traffic. Take a taxi from Penn Station to wherever. Who knows, maybe Cash Cab" will be shooting that day!

The best way to go to New York from Philly is to take Amtrak. It lets you off right at Madison Square Garden and you don't have to worry about driving in that crazy city. If you do decided to drive, I'm sure there are lots of parking garages that will be happy to charge you an arm-and-a-leg.

Nowhere. Park on Staten Island and take the ferry to Manhattan.
