Well we are the US if we are going out...you better believe we are taking everyone with us lol By having as many nukes as we do we send a clear message to the rest of the world "he who has the most nukes is the best"...ask India...who builds nukes while thousands starve...and I dont need to go into North Korea or Iran do I? Unfortunately..this history of nukes is a good one (look what happend with Japan and the a-bomb) but with the 5000 bad boys we have now...I do not believe we will come out nearly as lucky...lets hope im wrong.

Of couse, It's to keep the peace.
W/O a big stick to wave around , every little bully dictator will be up to no good. We can't be in every corner of the world solving every problem.
Can you imagine if the US did not have all those Nukes: China, Russia, N. Korea, Iran and a host of other countries formed an alliance, who would stop them? France and the UK? Japan? Canada?
