No for pure water. But if there is some impurities in it, it may.

Those that answered yes it can in relation to water in plastic bottles are right on the money in that the water absorbs chemicals from the plastic. If the bottle of water has been opened, then it WILL go bad. It takes quite awhile though.

1. Once air hits the water, the water starts to "grow." It takes a while for this to happen, but algae is created by stagnant water mixed with air.

2. Water from the tap usually has air bubbles mixed in it. On the end of a faucet there is a device called an Aerator. It adds air to the water. This is done for two reasons. a) water forced through a "sieve" has better pressure, thus making tasks like washing dishes easier. Those bubbles also work to give better cleaning power as well. b) water mixed with air is more aesthetically pleasing to the taste. Try a test...water fresh from the tap, and water that has been sitting for an hour or so. The sitting water can taste "flat."

yes it absolutely can expire! There should be a best before date on it somewhere. But I just read today that water in plastic bottles is quite dangerous to drink. It gives off a chemical from the plastic which is very unhealthy. I am not going to buy anymore after I finish what I have on hand. I would rather boil my tap water if necessary....which it is not where I live! Motto to remember "if in doubt, throw it out" about anything that is going into your mouth. It has saved me from food poisoning a few times.

water has no expiration date. the only reason bottled water has an expiration date is because water no mater how purified is lightly acidic, that's how leaving a pot soak overnight can remove all the mess that was on it, the water's acidity will break up the connective items in the stuff. water can do this to plastic too, just alot more slowly, and once enough plastic material is broken up from the water, it becomes unsafe to drink, thus the expiration date.

I don't think that it actually expires. However, bottled water will eventually absorb the taste of the plastic bottle. Many people might consider this "expired."

On my bottled water, there is a drink by date, but I don't know why since water has been around for billions of years. Maybe its the bottling?

Yes. But it lasts for a handful of years ... at least bottled water. It should have a date listed on it.

No, but on bottled water I think the drink by date is because by that time, the water will start tasting like the bottle...EWW!

no water cannot expire but maybe it has an expiritation date because of the bottling.

after about 100 years of running down a stream,a drop of water can still be drank.although i believe keeping it in an air-tight bottle will cause it to go bad if in there for too long.

Keep a bottled water long enough, you will be able to see some slimy particles forming in it..You will know, it has expired...
