ok, NOW we know the situation... (btw, I wasn't one of the haters yelling at you earlier! lol)

I really really don't understand how a dentist can extract an anterior tooth for a non-emergency situation and not have some kind of replacement (ie a flipper) for that tooth. "Hey, you look like a freak, but just deal for two weeks."

That is unacceptable, and s/he shouldn't have done it and you shouldn't have allowed it.
(of course i've found there's always another side to the story, but based exclusively on what YOUR side is, tha'ts my opinion.)

So YES, the quickest and easiest (and least expensive) thing is to go wth the flipper.
But here's the catch! You say the other dentist (I assume that's the family/general dentist and the one doing extraction is an oral surgeon?) "has" the flipper that you cancelled. Does he really HAVE it or did he just take the impression to get it done? cuz here's the thing; he has to send the impression to the lab and they have to MAKE the flipper and that takes at least a week, I've found.

If you CANCELLED that request, he probably didn't send the ipressions out, because why would he want to pay the lab to make something you didn't want and presumably wouldn't pay HIM for?

You should call that guy STAT and see if they really have the flipper and then ask nicely to get it delivered...most dentists dont work friday, i've noticed and then you've christmas etc.

good luck; i hope it works out. if all else fails, just try to talk with your mouth mostly closed..it's awkward but some people do it for years before they can afford to get teeth replaced. If people notice, just explain you're getting braces and you're spending the holidays "hillbilly style" and everyone will get a chuckle out of it.

Well talk to your dentist, maybe you're lucky and he has a lab on site. Usually they don't but you might be lucky.

Worse comes to worse, if anybody asks or give you crap about it, tell them you lost your tooth in a fight, and that they should see what you did to the other girl. Don't worry, you're never too young too be missing a tooth, its not like you're going around with no teeth at all, its only one little spot and it will be fixed soon enough, I know its a superficial thing, but don't feel so bad. Good Luck and hope you can still try to enjoy your Holiday season.
