Well unfortunatley from what I know, OCD is something that medication can not cure, it has to be faced and through couceling it eventually goes away, but I am not a doctor so don't quote me on that. As far as depression medicine each person reacts differently to each perscription it just takes time to find the one for you that makes you feel "normal". I am currently working on this myself. I take tofrinil pm for mood stability & depression ( I've tried everything for depression and this one works for me) and I see my couselor once a week and my psyciatrist every three months.

Good Luck and Merry christmas!

I've been on and off medications for depression and OCD my entire life. Anafranil (a tricylic antidepressant) helped as well as Prozac and Zoloft (SSRI antidepressants). The majority of these types of medications take 4 weeks to start working. Good luck. I know how challenging OCD can be.

I suffered from anixety/depression/OCD for over 30 years until I finally had enough and got on Prozac. After 2 weeks I started to feel so much better and after 4 weeks I felt like a weight was lifted off of me. I quite worrying so much and I was "happy" again. The OCD symptons just went away. I've been on Prozac 20mg for 2 years and I would recommend it to anyone who thinks they need help. Don't waste your life away, like I did. Go to the doc and get help now.

If, by success, you mean a cure.... forget it. Ain't gonna happen. Medication cures nothing. If you believe it does, you've been seriously brainwashed.

If you want a cure, find a good therapist who can teach you proper application of cognitive therapy. It, along with a healthy lifestyle, will fix just about any mental disorder including depression and OCD.

The best one drug you can try is Paxil. Paxil works for depression, anxiety(which is what you get when you have an obsession and are compelled to do something about it) and comes in a controlled release form so that it never wears off. For most psychotrophic drugs, it takes your body about 4 to 8 weeks to stabalize. You may notice a difference in the first week, maximum benefit is at about ten weeks.

Effexor mixed with Prozac worked for me. It started working after a couple of weeks and worked miracles. I took it for a couple of years and now I am offically off all meds after a horrible bout with depression (with ocd symptoms).

I find that going gym working-out is best for depression.I'm a trainer,I get some clients from doctors. When I get them started into a routine, its about 80-90% success, they leave all medication alone. Everything you do from that point on,will change for the better...answer to question..YES....gym...

It takes 4 to 6 weeks for meds to start to show any signs of help.
meds alone don't do it all.group tharpy and writing out your feelings. You have to change your audited from negative to positive. all of these things will help , start by forcing your self to get active. and smile.you have to feel good about yourself.keep reminding yourself you have to think positive.
