I always gain weight during the holidays. i just can't control myself from eating all the good food. Although I always get just one serving of each food on the table my worst enemy is the cake. After eating a slice I always want another one, then another one, then another one...Does anyone here have helpful tips to keep me from getting the next slice?

Only eat in front of other people. That might make you feel more ashamed if you over do it.

Drink LOTS of water before eating.

Start keeping a diet journal of EVERYTHING you eat. Not just for the holidays but for as long as you are trying to lose weight. This will make you realize just how much you are eating and feel guilty if you have to put "6 slices of cake" down.

Try to make your own healthy cakes. Substitute as many bad ingredients with healthy ones as you can. So that way if you DO overdo it, it won't be as bad.

Eat slower. Much slower. Make sure to put the fork down between each bite. Or take smaller portions at a time.

Before you eat something, find out how many calories it has in it if you can. This way you know that each cake piece has 400 or so calories in it and when you reach for the next and the next and the next you know by three pieces you're already up to like 1200 calories.

And, I agree, don't eat ANY at all. That works for me. If I know I can't control myself after one bite of eating something, I make sure I don't eat that something at all.

Don't have any cake at all. If you don't have it you won't crave it so badly. Once you have it, you know that it tastes good so it leaves you wanting more even though it's not good for you. Healthy eating is a habit not an event. You need to start getting serious about your health if you want to start keeping the pounds off. Pay attention to the calories and fat content in what you're eating and make some better choices. Its worked for me, you don't even notice what you're missing after awhile.

One thing that has always helped me is to drink a glass of water with the cake and then a glass right after. Then if I still want something I'll drink a glass of juice. It's a lot of liquid but sometimes it's better than eating too much.

Don't have the first one at all , or slice the cake up in slices then freeze it. Only take out one a day. Oh Yeah- After you eat your slice of cake -go brush your teeth right away. I hate to eat after I brushed my teeth.

Dont look at it. Dont smell it. Tie your hands inside your mouth so the cake wont fit in it.

Don't eat it. It's okay to enjoy desserts once in awhile, but if you know you aren't going to be able to stop then don't even look at it.
