because it isn't the same.
Religious people look at this life as an opportunity to prove to God that they are a good person so that they can spend eternity in heaven, thus placing emphasis on a close personal relationship with god.
Atheists say that this life is all we have, so living this life for the benefit of humanity and life in general is the greatest thing you can do.

Therefore religious people have a value system based on a close personal relationship with god. Atheists people have a value system based on a relationship with humanity and life as a whole.

All decent people have the same moral values, Atheist or otherwise, I am an Atheist and feel good when i donate money to charity and if an old lady fell over in the street I would rush over to see if they were OK. The only difference between a good Atheist and a good Christian is that Atheists believe there is no supreme being.

They don't in some cases but I do . For Instance I don't
worship money like the majority of religious people . they might lie about it but the IN GOD WE TRUST on the money is just a
contemporary version of the golden calf of Moses's time. And If you are honest you will readily see most all religions are based on money.Instead of minus God Try minus money.
peace out

I don't quite understand what you are asking. Don't they think that their values are as good? I thought that was their point that "I am a good person why would I go to hell?" I don't tell people that they are going to burn in hell! Jesus tell us that we are to "Judge not least we shall be judged with the same measure we judge others"From what I read here they seem to think that all Christians are judgmental. We just cant do that.We shouldn't do that. That is what turns people away. We need to tell people about the love of God not the vengeance of God!

Because its not the same. Religious people have certain restrictions according to their religion. For instance, Christians do not believe in pre-marital sex. While most atheists believe its illogical to wait until you are married.

I don't think they are. People who believe in afterlives tend to do good things for the reward. Religious people see being good as an entry to heaven.
Atheists think that you should be good because you just should. We're all people and we need to treat each other with respect.

Good question. Why can't atheists see that their belief system is made of the same cloth as ours. Neither one is appropriate as a state re legion and both need faith to accept.

No one ever said any such thing.

Critical thinking skills are the difference. But if you don't know what those are, you won't understand.
