First a puppy should not be away from it's mother before it is 8 weeks old. ( in some states it is against the law for them to be bought, sold, given away or adopted earlier then 8 weeks).
The first vacciantion is a distemper/parvo and it is given at 8 weeks (it should not ever be given earlier then 7 weeks but 8 is a lot better and recommended). Then the puppy will get a booster at 12 weeks and another at 16 weeks. After 16 weeks the puppy will need to get it's rabies vacciantions. In addition a puppy needs to be dewormed at 2, 4, 6 & 8 weeks of age and periodically after that. Call your vet, they will be able to set up a schedual for you.

The pup should get his first shots at 6 weeks. Then the vet will put him on a schedule for the rest of his vaccinations.

puppy will need 2 sets of shots first. one set one day then the other about 2 weeks later. you will need rabies, distemper for sure then i'd look to possibly get bordatella and a parvovirus also just to be safe.
