i like this girl alot and i think she might like me bc she talks to me alot on aim
but in public we dont talk much [we r both shy]

Say something like "I get tired of talking on AIM sometimes, mind if I give you a call sometime?" Although really, if you like this girl, you should just say something like "Hey, if you ever get bored of talking on AIM we should go to (insert dinner / movie / mall / anything here)" and from that first date you can easily get her number.
Don't worry -- first dates are not that bad, espeically if you've already talked to the girl first -- at least you know you guys can carry on a conversation! There is no need to be nervous - you like her and she, at least, likes talking with you. If you do decide to ask her out somewhere, I would suggest dinner.

you might want to talk a little longer on aim, maybe ask for her number and see if she would like for you to call her. If the conversation does not go well, either keep trying, or give up.

Dude, just walk up to her and ask her for her number! She will like you for having the courage to do so and she will more than likely say yes. Don't let your chance slip away.If you wait too long to ask her, she might end up with another guy. Good luck bro!

well try to show her you like her cause action speaks more than words for her number do this try to well make it a trick question like you asking her something like "Hey i Got a new phone with built in phone book" then say "can I get your number so I can Program IT" I Tried it my self and it worked dude good luck

well how about " hey can i call u later?" and then if she says yea then say oops dont got it can u give it its easier to talk on the phone and maybe that will work but u never know til u try

Tell her you would like to get to know her better and begin to date. Ask her if she feels the same. If she does then ask her for her number.

before the phone number.. approach her in person. and start passing notes. you dont have to talk to her necessarily at first, but IMs arent very personal. notes, phones, then talking and going out.
