I'm sorry. This is too complex to pick a best answer. I must put it out to a vote.
Before voting, consider the question: If God is a loving God, why would He make people choose between keeping his commandment concerning homosexuality (that is, having to live a celibate, lonely, miserable life) and happiness?

Would a fair God make some people choose obedience with happiness (straights) and other people choose obedience with misery (gays)?

That is the crux of the dilemma for believers.

Man, it was a job wading through the homophobia.

Time for a little rationality. Biological evidence has strongly suggested that homosexuality is a birth trait and people have as much "choice" over it as they do gender or ethnicity.

Have any of the people rambling on about how it's "Satan's" creation ever actually talked to someone who is homosexual? Ever bothered to ask why? Do they really think that homosexual sex is so mind-blowing and addictive that people will willingly chose to be ostracized and jeered at by the majority of their own culture?

Animals can be and are homosexual too...is that somehow a conscious choice on their part? Or have they somehow been "infected" with it by us?

Homosexuality is not a choice. It is an orientation, and it cannot be changed regardless of the claims of the Christian "therapy" camps. Therefore the question remains: If God hates homosexuality, why did he make homosexuality even possible?

Remember that if God is our ultimate creator as all Christians claim, then he is directly responsable for any "imperfections" in his creation (real and percieved).

One last note: I have yet to encounter a single Christian who actually says "hate the sin and love the sinner" and actually done it. The ones who say that the loudest are frequently the ones trying to pretend that homosexuals are some kind of "Gay Mafia".

God didn't MAKE people gay. Being gay is a choice people make based on a lie which they have believed. But, let me be clear, God loves the people and hates the SIN, and homosexuality IS sin, no matter how many ways the subject is rehashed. This is not an angry statement, but it is THE TRUTH.
I am sorry that there are so many people out there who are trapped by the lies that lead them into homosexuality. It is possible to be free from it, but it takes commitment and work and the help of others who know how to overcome the mind-set that leads to a gay life-style.
But, be sure - God DID NOT and DOES NOT CREATE gay people!!

Did God make homsexuals ? I dont think so. Like he did not make Straight people, he gave us all life, but we have a free will to do as we please.

Homosexuality is a product of mans society not from modern times but from the start of time. Mankind will always make his own path. some things that some of us do dont please others did God make drug takers. I dont think so nor drunks , but in these so called modern times learned people now claim an addict has a gentic problem I dont think so. drug takers and drunks are again peolpe who lack a faith and are merely living wretched lifes due to the soceity in which there live.

We are born in sin but we can change and go back to God or steer our own path. and be ready to meet the Devil. we all know of so called straight people whos morailty is 100s times worst than gay people after all what are gay people? They are like me and you. they just choose to sleep with the same sex thats all i have a few male friends who I admire and to a certain degree love but the idea of sleeping with them is a no no. I prefer to sleep with a woman then again. there are some things i would not do with a woman in bed. whilst others do. Get beyond what peolpe do in bed and just love your fellow man /woman. life is to short let God be the judge of our actions here on earth. Respect one and all. Amen

God doesn't hate homosexuality - God loves us all equally. The issue with homosexuality is used as a banner by some religious groups who are preying on the vulnerabilities of people being a little hesitant of anyone who isn't like them.

There's a lot that goes into someone's sexual attractions. It's a complex thing, psychology is very malleable, and so for some ppl, sexual abuse can cause them to not be comfortable with the opposite sex, or not being affirmed in their gender identity can lead to gender confusion, so they're attracted to the masculine or feminine traits in other men or women. These are just a couple of influencing factors, and someone may be a homosexual and have none of them, or have all of them and not be a homosexual.

Ultimately, it's the person's decision whether to act on their attractions and engage in homosexual behavior. That's what's sinful. Being attracted to the same sex is temptation (even Jesus was tempted), but acting on that attraction is sinful bc it's against God's design for sex and marriage.

The basic flaw is in the question. It assumes that the trait of being tempted by homosexuality comes from God. God does not tempt anyone to sin.

James 1:13-14 says, "Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed."

This question blames God for homosexual behavior. One might just as well ask, "If murder is wrong, why did God create murderers?"

Just because there are murderers, that does not mean it is God's fault because he created them. Someone is tempted to sin when they are drawn away by their own lusts! Homosexuality is not different.

A friend of mine, a gay man, loved his partner and his partner loved him. Their love was a beautiful thing.

Before I met them, I was unsure about gays and lesbians being allowed to marry. But the beauty of their relationship changed my mind.

Unfortunately, his partner died of cancer last year. Hundreds of people, gay and straight, attended the funeral to celebrate the man as well as this relationship.

Could the loving God I believe in view their relationship as sinful? As from the devil? Or did he see it the same way those hundreds of people did, as a celebration of true love between two wonderful human beings?

I believe God loves us all, like a father loves his children. If either one of my daughters is a lesbian, I will love her just the same. And so will God. Peace.

What is gay? How can someone be so defined by their sexual orientation? I do not identify as a heterosexual. My whole life isn't about being a heterosexual? It is not the defining point of me as a person.

If people are born gay, that does not excuse their actions. Their is so much sin in the world, that people are born with all kinds of issues. Some people are born without central nervous systems, That doesn't mean God created them.

God created a perfect world and we ruin it through our sins. In essence, we have become the creators of the world through are hubris and disobedience.
