You hit it on the head. If we start prosecuting every Marine or soldier who has every killed a civilian in a wartime situation, more of them will be reluctant to defend themselves or they will hesitate in that split second life or death moment and possibly cost more American lives because of it. The enemy wears civilian clothes and uses civilians to shield themselves while shooting at Marines. Its war, people are going to die, military and civilian, and the sooner people realize that and get over it, the war will go a lot more smoothly and hopefully we can get out of here sooner. If the media and all the whiny liberal bleeding hearts would quit siding with the enemy and let us do our job here without worrying about who is filming us waiting to question our actions when they have no idea what's going on, we could do what we came here to do.

So far I haven't heard any convincing evidence that they should be punished for participating in the war they were sent to participate in.

If they were not fighting insurgents (who look and appear like regular citizens) maybe I'd feel differently, but they are fighting against an unknown enemy, and this type of mistake, if it was a mistake is plausible.

Maybe the initial lies were a preemptive attempt to prevent backlash for a situation that could and has been misconstrued, on all sides.

Not that it's ok to lie, but it's war and this doesn't mean definitive guilt or wrong doing on their parts either.

I feel the same way, Pull all of the troops back to Kuwait
and up to the north with the Kurds and let the good times roll and keep on rolling until there is nothing left.

Why are you not in Iraq fighting this war that "does not matter what took us there"? The military lied about what happened (so did these soldiers) in the beginning which is a clear indication that what took place was wrong. Would you rather these soldiers be taken before an Iraqi court where they will surely recieve the death penalty?

adrenalin stops you from reasoning correctly...
you just start to shoot...... and kill everything in sight
anyone who's ever been attacked and come close to dying can tell you that...

innocent civilians were killed
someone has to be brought to justice
what is justice in this case

plead temporary insanity... that's what I believe it was

this war is an unjust war and frivolous
it's about oil, power and money... nothing else

take the advise the whole world was giving GW Bush and Company...
GO HOME YANKS!!!

and raise your families in a Godly way
