The trees that are chopped down every year for the "vain tradition" are raised specifically for that purpose. No one is going into virgin forests and harvesting trees to sell at the local Christmas tree lot. The Christmas tree that I buy every year cleans the air in my house and offers oxygen to my family while it's here. Besides the fact that in buying a tree I'm supporting a local Christmas tree farmer and helping him stay in business. I don't see a problem with it at all.

You make a very good point. But I doubt that those who celebrate Christmas with a live tree will give up the tradition--not when the public is told that the trees are continuously replaced by new seedlings and the discarded trees are recycled into usable mulch. Too, artificial plastic trees end up in landfills. Which is worse?

Christmas trees are grown on a farm. If they get too big to sale they are cut down. They are renewable resource and provide a income for people who own land that want grow much else. YOU ARE NOT SAVING A TREE BY NOT BUYING A REAL TREE!

It is actually better for the environment to use real trees than produce/dispose of fake trees. The trees used for Christmas trees are grown just for that purpose.

meanwhile, because of people like you, we use and throw plastic bags away because we want to save trees. now the world is strangled because of plastic that does not rot, or dissolve.
thumbs up for the empathy
thumbs down for the real world results.
i bet you drive a smokey car. the amount of hippys I have seen driving dirty smokey cars, while they eat tofu and hug trees is amazing. blow that carbon monoxide out peeps, and kill that tree.
fools. how many "save the forests" people have actually spent a night out in a real forest?
why not beat a jap for eating whale and dolphin.
I am for renewable resources, but you people make me sick. save the world you say, while you flick a cigarette butt out of the window of your oily smoked un-tuned car.
