I am male and 36 years old. I have a psychological disability. It involves social anxiety, anxiety attacks, depression, and inability to cope with stressful situations.

I've had a personal up online for over a year and telling about all of my positive traits, in a non-egotistical manner, has garnered very little response.

I'm beginning to wonder if allowing myself to be vulnerable is the way to go, by opening up and discussing the full details of my disability and how it affects my daily life.

Ladies, would you find this to be a brave and admirable thing to open up about in my personal, or would it have the total opposite effect on women and turn them off?

Try to frame your disability in a positive way - "likes mellow, one-on-one time" or something similar. When you get to know someone better, you can gradually open up, but I'm afraid too much of this information at once will make you seem unattractive.

Have you tried anti-depressant medications? Paxil has been shown to be effective in treating social anxiety disorder.

I have a friend like you, and it's really sad because he's nearly 50 and he's working at Wal-Mart. He just doesn't have the courage to go for job interviews despite numerous "pep talks" I've tried to give him.

If you have social anxiety, I'm not sure how well you would cope meeting a woman in person after chatting online, but of course I wish you luck. There's probably a woman out there as shy as you. ;)

Hey wait are you my ex-husband..oh no your too young! WHEW!
Honestly if I saw that I would click off after anxiety attacks and depression. ( I was married to that once).
I understand the need to put yourself out there, perhaps you will find someone who doesn't find it as scary I as do (again from personal experience). You can do whatever you want on the profile, so if you haven't had much response, go ahead and change it and see what happens.

I highly recommend E-harmony... as I found my new fiance there. (See the answer I wrote for another recent yahoo Question about Online Pictures.)
