The Catholic Church and the U.S. government (at the behest of Bush's nutty fundamentalist friends) have insisted that telling Africans not to have sex is more effective than handing them a known prevention method - condoms. That's despite every study y ever done saying the opposite.

Just because The Catholic Church & The US Government has an idea, suggestion, or a statement, it is not necessarily the brightest one out there. Both groups have their fill of idiots, unfortunately, the idiots seem to be atop the chain. I am an Atheist, and I firmly believe your survival depends on your surroundings, your country, your financial status, everything around or about you. "God" has no say whether or not you live or die. You die of diseases located largely and easily contracted in your area. (such as AIDS) And to the support of the Catholic Church, and the US Gov't... Yes, not having sex is the safest, easiest, and most logical way to not contract AIDS (taking into consideration that condoms break.)

God is a concept that i have always struggled with. God may be giving me signs and indicators of my bad or good decisions. Like trail markers to help guide my actions. God may not participate with barking with dogs, clucking with chickens or talking with humans. It is far more different than we are apt to ever understand. The question is how you seem to feel about the catholic church and the us government. stand back and imagine the globe before you. why does the american continent have to handle every damn thing that screws up in the rest of the world. you pay for it doofus! you nearsighted impractical nut job. you claim studies prove you are right. statistics can prove anything. that is how statisticians earn those big bucks. money money money makes the world go around. did you know how messed up the us economy is in now? doofus doesn't complain about that. doofus wants to save one more place in the world that requires billions. life iss short, pretty damn mean and tuff, you are a child.

The US government does not condom the use of condoms. Also, Christian fundamentalists do not condom the use of any birth control (i.e. stopping the fertilization of an egg as opposed to aborting it).

The Catholic Church, which teaches the non-biblical idea that sex is for procreation only, condoms the use of condoms. Don't lump the rest of us in with them.

IF there was an all powerful, All Loving god, do you think he or she would allow anyone to die of aids, or starvation in Africa ?

People in Africa, and all over the world, are dying of aids, sickness, disease, suffering, starvation by the hundreds and thousands everyday. Think about this. IF there was an all powerful god; a God who is Love, as so many religious people and their books, say he is (GOD IS LOVE) it is said and believed by so many = then why if he is Love, does he allow so many innocent people to die everyday, when he supposedly has the power to stop this.
IS THIS AN ACT OF LOVE, sitting back in a throne on high, watching innocent people die ?
Why ? Why ? Why ?
Commen Sense dictates it is because God does NOT exist.

It is up to humanity to resolve the problems of suffering, sickness, disease, including AIDS, and the starvation in the world. So many people in the world have money. But so many spend it so foolishly on themselves, instead of giving some of their money to the needy, sick and starving. 10% of all the money coming into a family's goes to church pastors, it is called a tithe. When this money could go directly to those who really need it in the world. Tithing was an Old Testament principle. The new testament simply says the god loves a cheerful giver. Give from the heart. Paul was a tentmaker who support himself and his ministry financially. People in the christian churches all around the world, as well as other religions, and all of humanity should give a mere 5 to 10% of their income for the poverty sticken, the starving people - in the world that are dying by the hundreds and thousands(and that # is probably very low, it is probably Much higher), and so many people dying of Aids, in our country (USA) and other sickness, diseases, and all around the world. Humanity has within its means to end poverty, starvation, sickness, diseases, killing, and wars. When when we all, unselfishly take a strong stand, and demonstrate true loving-kindness and compasion, and mercy, AND give. If we do not honestly have any money to give, then give of our time, to help at a homeless shelter, and/or something of that nature.
When I belonged to a church 6 years ago, where it was taught from the old testament, for a christian church to give 10% a year pf his and her gross income, I trusting my pastor was giving almost $10,000 a year into his pocket, when he (as the Apostle Paul did) should have been working, to provide for his family and to pastor a church. I came to my senses. I Am part of a entirely different religion, "actually it is a philosophy = a logical way of life for my family and I." And I, along with my wife, give $185,000 a year directly to the starving that are in Africa and India. And this is proably still not enough, but we are putting all our children through college now as well.
This I reason out is the small part we can do, to help put an end to starvation in two parts of the world. And we, my family are very happy and at peace. "Forgive me, if I sound boastful, or full of pride. I am only trying to make a point, that the human race, needs to awaken from its slumber and truly do what it can, unselfishly to help put an end to hunger, sickness, and disease in the world. My family and I, only do a very small part. We do not have much, but what we do have, we try to use to help others."
And how many people walk right by and do not even give a little money or gifts (during the holidays especially December) to the armed services which stand outside of Walmart or Target, waiting for people to give a little, whether money or gifts.
When we die, we can not take our money with us. And do we really need "ALOT" of money, for our retirement. Most of it simply just sits in the bank, yes collectly some interest. But could be used in ways to better humanity, and end the suffering in the world.
Corrective criticism, and conviction is hard to receive for the prideful, but for the humble - it comes as a blessing, and they learn, and cultivate loving-kindness and wisdom from it, and are blessed by all they say and do !!

"Again, I say - PLEASE forgive me if I have hurt or offended anyone."

Happy Holidays to all of You reading this, and to your familys.

And please always be Thankful for your health, happiness, and I wish all of you good-will !!

This is what the Holidays especially are "all" about, GIVING !!

The Catholic church wants people who have sex to die of aids. The god I believe in wants people to be happy and alive, and supports safe sex, even if it's premarital. The catholic church is not representative of god, and neither is the US gov.

as much as I hate in giving a good christian answer....I will be a nice guy this time around and answer as I think a christian would. No, God does not want the people of Africa to die. In fact, Biblically speaking it is the people who are struggling the most and give themselves over to God who recieve his highest blessings. In other words the fat lazy christians we have in the US would be at the bottom of his list and the African's dieing from AIDS would be waaaaayyy at the top :)

yep and they've been doing it since at least 1930 i'm no mathematician but I assuming over this time 76 years or so there would have been millions of AIDS cases prevented if sex education , contraception and abortion clinics were introduced in to Africa via an effective program

No.

The problem is that some people, largely people in position of power in the west, think two things:

pleasure of any kind is automatically bad

anyone how looks different doesn't have to exist

Actually they can't afford them, that's why anal sex is the preferred method of birth control there and AIDS is acting as a natural cap on the population. The Catholic Church doesn't care if 1000 billion people eat the earth (through no birth control) as it is one of their fundamental dogmas.
